QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

This was McCord's first season as a starter. Who's to say he wouldn't develop into one down the road. Is Henderson a 1st round RB? Is Egbuka 1st round WR? If not, is anyone bashing them?
I am not saying that McCord couldn't "Burrow" it . I assume Ryan Day did that.

Henderson and Ebuka are probably 2nd rounders, but only because of injuries.

Haskins, Fields, Stroud *Burrow*

Zeke, Dobbins, Samuel, then had to grab Sermon cause we didn't have a stud. Day expects a pretty high standard imo.

Yikes, did not see that coming but apparently Day had a very candid discussion with Kyle on his odds to start next year, and possibly that he was going to play Brown and/or Kienholz in the bowl game. I truly believe Kyle was our best chance to win this year and did a pretty good job on the stat sheet...but that doesn't mean he is our best chance the next 1-2 years. The timing of this is odd but at honestly it is better to just start preparing Brown and Kienholz starting with the bowl game.

Best of luck to Kyle wherever he lands and a big thanks to his efforts this season and never giving up.

I'm surprised, but this seems like something we need to expect from such a competitive QB room and a transfer portal with big NIL $ and development opportunities. Either outright win the job, or be vulnerable to being pushed. And given the 2024 Buckeyes (and Day in particular) would have as much pressure we've seen since ~1996, then I don't really blame McCord for leaving for other opportunities. He didn't earn full job security (not with Brown, Lincoln, and Noland onboard) but he didn't deserve the toxicity from our fanbase. He will likely be the top QB on the market now.

Does no one remember Tod Beckman. Guy got us to the Nation Championship game. Yes, it was behind a fucking monter Beanie Wells. The next year he goes full statue of liberty like 10 times against USC and Tressel went to a freshman Terrelle Pryor.

McCord isn't the fist player to be told he isn't good enough for OSU. Won't be the last either

Literally all of us remember him. We were here on BP when he played.
