QB Quinn Ewers (transfer to Texas)

“(Ewers) is starting to pick up the offense. It’s taken a little time for him to pick up the offense, but that’s because he just got thrown into it,” Day said Tuesday. “He didn’t have a spring ball, didn’t have a preseason. There’s a lot to it, and it’s hard when you don't get a ton of reps, but he’s getting more reps now. And I think you’re starting to see him get more comfortable around the team.”

Not sure if he is, but running the scout team offense might be the best thing for him this year. Give him a whole season of practicing against the first team defense to work on threading passes into tightish coverage.

To get a jump start on the off season; I don't know how you have an open competition for the job after the year Stroud is having.

You can give 2-3 of them equal reps in the spring and see who pops, but the hope would be that Stroud has such a great year next year that he's a top 10 pick and then you get a couple years out of the next man up. I think the key for the QB's is to have at least 2 years of production on the field. IMO only playing for 1 season cost Haskins in the NFL.

I honestly I would love to see those reps, that could be really work for our DBs especially if he is fitting the ball into those tight windows

I'm curious how the situation shakes out with Ewers. I mean Stroud is a freshman, I guess he could potentially leave after next season although I kind of doubt he would be a high pick next year. Theoretically Stroud could play 3 more seasons and if that happens Ewers may never start here

McCord might beat out Ewers as well …

Stroud will be a top 5 pick after next year. He's at least a 1st round lock at this trajectory. Hopefully Ewers sticks it out for next year too because its anyone's position after Stroud.
