QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Assuming Troy starts next week, he has been put in the most incredibly fortunate situation that a rookie QB could ask for. With the Ravens playing the Dolphins next week, it would not surprise me to see Troy put up some decent numbers, and outplay Beck, a QB that was drafted three rounds higher than him. Troy could not be in a much better situation right now.

That was one of the sweetest mop-up drives I've ever seen. (sarcasm) Great to see Troy playing again, even under the circumstances. I noticed Troy got a lot of love from his teammates after the TD. Here's hoping this is the birth of a future QB controversey.

Quarterback Contraversy Coming? Maybe not...but I bet there's gona be one or two Baltimore fans calling for it.

Let me be Raven fan #1 to call for it. I was so unbelievably happy when the Ravens took Troy, and now I really want them to give him a chance to start. He had mad zip on the ball and made great decisions. Garbage time I know, but give me something to believe in here!

JMO he won't get the start. If Billick thought he was ready to start he alrerady would be. It would be great if he did but I don't think so, so I guess I will have to see it .

doubt those pricks start troy next week.... Why? why would they not though? their season IS OVER, and you have got to see if Troy can maybe be your future or not. I gaurantee you though if he starts he'll play well, and he might not gain the starting position forever but they'll let Troy learn as a backup knowing he's the future.

totally agree.... My best friend (Va tech fan, so he can blow me on this one) said he thinks Troy won't amount to anything as a pro. You know he might be right, but only because people won't give him a chance because of the dumb sterotypical comments about Troy like "too small". I think it was a shame he fell so badly in the nfl draft, but if any of the 31 teams give this guy a shot to start he will shine and shine BRIGHT. Watching him play in the last 2:28 it felt like the Ravens finally had life and that that offense finally had a reason to play. Like someone said did you see how everyone responded when he scored?? He seems like he's really well liked in that organization thats for sure. Now all they need is to have that fuck billack to realize the season is OVER now you need to build for your future, and having Boller (who signed a 1 year contract and will be gone after this year) as the starter makes ZERO sense right now. You need to find out if Troy can do something with your team when none of those oher QB's could.

good post. Just to clarify, Boller's one year contract takes him through next year, not just this one. His original contract was due to expire at the end of this season. I hope he has to backup Troy next year, how sweet it would be.

Billick is too stubborn and egotistical to give Troy a shot. It's unfortunate, because Troy is the ultimate competitor and would like nothing more than to play harder than any QB has ever played before to win that starting spot, but he'll not get that shot this year.

Very true. The NFL decesion makers never like to look wrong, so Troy will not get his shot this year. The Rat Birds gave Boller an extra year on his contract, and if they bench him in favor of Troy, they look dumb for making that move.

I still wish Troy was a Brown.

One thing is for sure, that last drive made him very favorable with the fans. Now everyone is going to be crying for Troy as Boller continues his usual flop, I don't know how much time he'll get. Their last three games are the Dolphins, Seahawks and Steelers, if Boller drops that game to the fins I could see Troy getting the nod. Either way, he looked good tonight, as elusive as ever, that first pass was nice, shame it wasn't right on target, but he moved, showed what he can do in a short period of time. Good Luck Troy, hope you get the nod soon!

The NFL decision makers said taking Ryan Leaf before Peyton Manning was a good choice.

I agree that Troy was looking pretty good but we can't forget that it was the end of the game with backups in. He did show the ability to scramble and throw though. I agree with Madden, the Ravens have nothing to lose by starting him for the rest of the season.
