QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I'd love to see Troy do well these last two games but I have never, in my life, seen a head coach have so much man love for a player as Billick has for Boeller. . .with the exception of the unbridled man lust Dick Vermeil had for Trent Green.

Anyway, in my opinion the Baltimore players have given up on giving any kind of effort at all for Boeller. I mean this is a team that's getting old but is still much better than their record. And speaking of records, for the record, I despise the Baltimore Ravens lest anyone think I'm a Raven fan. I'm a Bengals guy, I watch AFC football (mostly) and I've seen the Ravens a lot this year.

But I think Troy is the spark this Baltimore team needs, I'd like to see him win these last two games for his sake.

Go Troy!

Ravens' Smith measuring up
QB not short on confidence, support from team
By Jamison Hensley | Sun reporter
December 23, 2007

Six weeks ago, Troy Smith wasn't on the Ravens' quarterback radar, a third-stringer who could only hope to one day get a shot at running the offense.

Now, after injuries to Steve McNair and Kyle Boller, Smith has been thrust into his first NFL start today, when the reeling Ravens (4-10) play at the NFC West champion Seattle Seahawks (9-5).

Some wonder - including the Ravens privately - whether a rookie fifth-round draft pick is ready to be an NFL starter.

But Smith believes he is.

"It's a situation where your confidence has to be there the whole way," said Smith, who is making his first start since losing to Florida in the national championship game in January. "Confidence with me has never been a problem because I don't have anything to prove to anybody."

"Troy is a football player, and that's what I love about him," wide receiver Derrick Mason said. "He goes out there, makes plays and produces regardless of how big you are and what type of quarterback they say you are or are not."

"Troy is a winner," McGahee said. "He has won a championship and he's been in big-time games. This is his first big-time game in the NFL, and I have every bit of confidence in him."

Looks like it is going to be pretty rainy in Seattle today.

Weather.com has the the wind at 10-12 mph and raining throughout the entire afternoon.

Hopefully the conditions don't get too bad, because I'd hate to see Troy have to throw into the driving wind and rain in his first-ever start.

It's a good thing he played in Columbus....

Good thing Qwest Field is a retractable dome.

They aren't letting him throw it down the field right now, but down 21-0 they are going to have to open it up. His last 3 throws have been solid, 2 completions to the tight end and a nice throw with the rush in his face on the last one. 2 min. offense right now. Another good throw with a DE coming after him.

Troy was really set up to fail in this game. He has had like 3 drops. He has had horrendous field position(2 drives within the 5).
Horrible weather. Not to mention the line just flat out sucks it collapses like they are trying to collapse.
