Rank our games this season

and who won? they can do that 600 times in a row.....as long as they are a suck ass MW team, I'll never be afraid of them coming to the Shoe.

I think you flat refuse to acknowledge that they took it to us that game, and that we were indeed lucky to come away with the win...you can't just say, "And who won?", and use that as a valid reason why we should blow them off. Fortunately you're not a member of the staff, lest we be asking on Sep 18th why we lost to SDSU...

We also thought we were going to kick Northwestern's ass last year for the umpteeth straight time, and look what happened (and don't use the excuse "it was a road game" because NU had beat us in The Shoe more recently than they had beat us at their place).

So we should be scared of NW this year?

My point wasnt that they will never beat us....its that in a ranking of how scared we are of each game, SDSU will ALWAYS be lower tier. You can't argue that.

I flat out guarantee you that SDSU will give us a much closer game than NU will...200% guaranteed. NU hasn't been closer than 18 points in The Shoe in 26 years...SDSU has played both of their games all-time against us in The Shoe (2001, 2003) and lost by 15 (27-12) and 3 (16-13). Add the fact they are sandwiched between Texas and Iowa makes them even scarier compared to NU. On top of that, factor in the payback factor against NU along with it being the lead-in to The Game at The Pig House, makes NU far less fearsome than SDSU.

Thats my point. Nobody is scared of NW despite them beating us last year. But you are basing the "fear" of SDSU off how they last played us.

My point is this: If we are listing how worried we are of each game on the schedule.....who are you putting SDSU in front of? Obviously not Mich, Texas, Penn State, or Iowa. But do you have them 5th? I'm more worried about being AWAY at minny with maroney. Are they 6th? MSU has a damn good team this year. Are they 7th? Miami(OH) will play us tougher than SDSU.

Why the outcry for putting them so low? I suppose I could have put them 8th instead of 9th....but i didn't concern myself with anybody past 7th anyways.

1)@Penn State - A liquored-up crowd at night after a bye week in a game that they think will make their season. This one will be close through 3 quarters.

2)@Michigan - We'll be undefeated and we know their mission is always to spoil our season. God knows they've done it before. I see a game close on the scoreboard but never in doubt. A lot like 2001.

3)@Minnesota - It's a conference away game against a pretty good team with a coach who has an axe to grind against us. Close at the half... a massacre in the end.

4)Iowa - They know how to beat us but this year they don't have all the pieces to pull it off, least of all at Ohio Stadium. We are a different team than the one they drubbed last year. Don't be suprised if we trail at the half but win by two TD's in the end.

5)Texas - It's at home, at night and we rarely lose to "athletic" quarterbacks. If you don't count Drew Tate and Zack Mills we never do. We always force those guys to beat us with their arm but in the case of Tate and that one game with Mills we didn't count on their athleticism. We'll be ready for Young... but will they be ready for our physicality?

6)San Diego State - Sandwiched between Texas and Iowa, our guys will be tempted to just go through the motions. This game might be unnecessarily close.

7)Miami
8)Michigan State
9)Northwestern
10)@Indiana
11)Illinois

Obviously I'm usually nervous when we go on the road in the Big Ten and seldom nervous when we play in The Shoe.

I think you better go back and read my rankings again. I have @Minnesota 5th, Miami 6th, and then SDSU 7th. I put SDSU just ahead of MSU because I just feel they'll play us tougher than MSU will.

I wasn't arguing with you....i was just trying to get across that SDSU isn't a game OSU fans should be scared of. That doesn't mean they can't pull the upset, it just means there are more important games to worry about than SDSU.

Putting tham at #7 implies that we shouldn't be afraid, but still not blow them off like Indiana, Northwestern, or Illinois.
Yeah they should've been higher than Indiana....i just copied the original post and didn't bother with the lower teams.

I am worried about MSU though. They have a really good underrated team.

MSU has a decent team, no argument here. However, in light of the facts that the game is at home and it's in the middle of the season (so hopefully our team will have worked out the early season mistakes), I don't see this game as a problem. Then again, if they did here what they did in '98, I'll scream.
