Don't get me wrong folks, I love Pittman........the guy is one of my favorites on the squad this season. I just don't think he's there yet.....he may be very soon, but as of right now he's not.

I agree. I'm probably the biggest Pittman fan on this board but even I think he could use another season.

Ran across this on BN and thought it merited a mention. If anyone who posts over there wants to give jpfbuck propos it is deserved (assuming it is his original work).

If Antonio Pittman performs for the remaining 22 games of his OSU career at the same level he has over the last 11, he will finish his career with the following:

Att - 830
Yards - 4800
YPC - 5.78
TDs - 34
Yards/game - 96.0
100+ yard games - 28

Those career totals will rank as follows:

Rushing Att - 2nd most in school history,,behind only Archie Griffin, but only 18th highest out of the top 19 rushers in ncaa history.

Rushing yards - 19th all time in ncaa history, 2nd most in school history, behind only Archie Griffin and 1100 yards more than 3rd place Eddie George

YPC - 5th best among backs gaining atleast 4800 all time ncaa history, ,,behind only Ricky Williams, LaDanian Tomlinson, Archie Griffin and Darren Spoles,,,8th best for backs gaining atleast 4500 yards and 2nd best in school history for backs gaining atleast 3000 career yards

TDs - 6th most in school history behind only Pete Johnson, Keith Byars, Eddie George, Tim Spencer and Champ Henson. And only 3 away from being 3rd on school history

YPG - 2nd best in school history, behind only Archie Griffin

100+ yard games - 2nd most in school history behind only Archie Griffin

And he would have done all this with fewer than 40 career starts.

Pittman does not get any respect from the national media and I still can't figure it out. Pittman is solid and what he does best is in my opinion is that he makes sure to always fall forward, you rarely see him get stuffed for no gain or a loss. He just runs hard.

Can we start a Vbet every week on Pittman scoring a rushing TD in the first half of the game, until he actually accomplishes the task of course?

Just throwing that out there.

I think Antonio's greatest strength is his mentality of leaving it all on the field for every game. This translates to one of the strongest second-half players in college ball right now. If the game is on the line in the 4th quarter, I wouldn't hand it off to anyone but Pittman. The value of that kind of playmaking ability late in the game is immeasurable.

Having said that, I think for Pittman to get on the map in terms of media attention, he'd have to have a huge, multiple TD, 200+ yard rushing game to garner lots of attention. Frankly, that won't happen because our offense is so balanced, and if we have to rely on Pittman to get us those yards (not that he couldn't) then something else on our offense is seriously wrong.

I agree.

I was just throwing out a vBet idea.

Mel Kiper has taken notice [him being 2nd on the junior RB list] and as the season progresses and we continue as #1 people will have no choice but to know his name.
