RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

Mo. C.got banged up (stingers) towards the end of the season and he fizzled out somewhat. I remember the first few games he was putting up some insane numbers.

I would put Beanie ahead of Carlos at this point.
Carlos missed the first three games. I'm saying talent wise, Carlos is the third best back since Eddie, and there's not a fraction of an ounce of shame in that.

If we're talking in terms of pure talent, Carlos is behind Mo. C and Beanie. If we're talking about impact to the team, he's only behind Mo. C.

There isn't anything wrong with that. Look at the RBs that have come through Ohio State since Eddie George - Michael Wiley, Pepe Pearson, Antonio Pittman, Johnathan Wells, Beanie, Mo.C, Boom Herron - other than 2003 because of MO.C's issues, the cupboard hasn't exactly been bare.

If he takes over the offense like we know he can down the stretch and contributes to back to back undefeated seasons, we'll re-evaluate then. Big game next week for this team to keep the momentum going.

What I love about Los as compared to someone like Beanie, is he heart and desire. Beanie for all his amazing talent just wasn't quite the warrior Los is. I love Beanie, but no way would Los would have sat himself against SC.

Hyde is another guy who has made a marked improvement from last season.

Beanie played an integral part in three victories over M#ichigan. The most memorable game was vs. Wisconsin in '07, where he scored three second half TDs after the badgers took the lead. After the first score he sprinted past players waiting to pat him on the back as a signal that he still had unfinished business.

Would've won the LSU game had we not inexplicably went again from the run in the 2nd quarter.

Love Carlos, but Beanie was in a league of his own.

About the same, except Beanie beat a better tsun. He holds the single game rushing record against tsun with 222 yds. It's debatable, but imo, Beanie is going to be hard to beat.

The thing is, I'd put Mo. C above Beanie in a heartbeat and not look back. I really wish he would have played for two more years. The kid had the talent, he basically saved the MNC game with that strip of Sean Taylor, and he completely changed the face of the 2002 team.

Beanie had an impact, but while he was a good RB on good teams and beat an horribly over-rated scUM team that lost to Appy State by himself, he just wasn't that pivotal, MVP type player. He showed flashes, that TD run against LSU was special, but for every special play like that, there was the fumble into the endzone against YSU or the sit out against USC.

Another point is Ohio State would have won most of those games in 2007-2008 without him. Without Hyde, last year's team loses 3 games. This years team has at least 2 losses by now as well.

Beanie had more raw talent, Hyde has had more of an impact.

Not only that but I think people forget that Beanie ran behind some GARBAGE offensive lines. Let's not forget that this is probably the best offensive line we've had in over ten years. Even Tressel's better teams didn't dominate the line of scrimmage like this one has. Beanie would probably be on his way to 2000 this season if he were running behind this o-line.

Mo C was alone at the top. I wasn't including him. Blaming Beanie for the YSU fumble is ridiculous. He had a freak injury. ..and it was YSU. Beanie definitely had the injury bug, and he didn't sit out of a game because he was scared. He sat out the game before and after USC so I don't know where you're getting that he benched himself. It's easy to say those would've been W's without him, but impossible to prove. Beanie ran for 1600 yards in one season. And 2007 tsun wasn't overrated when we played them. They were a solid team that gave us a hell of a game.

That was the year michigan beat Urban and Florida wasnt it?
Hyde is averaging the same YPC as Beanie. I think Beanie was better, but Hyde is right there behind him...for now.
Hyde is averaging near 6 ypc this year. Beanie did it for his career behind less of an oline. I don't like this discussion because i love them both, but people gave Beanie undeserved bullshit. Like questioning his heart. The dude is the all time leading rusher in The Game, for either team. He didn't even have his biggest year against RR.
