That's interesting that they've been working with the Saints this year...

Payton's playcalling was excellent for a good portion of the year, and his use of Bush/McAllister was well done. I'm curious to see this, because if we could pull out that system in college we'd be a tough out.

I am very glad to hear that Mo Wells is sticking around for another year. :) He being back, as well and Brandon Saine and Boom Herron coming on as freshman, will make things interesting in the battle for that #2 HB spot behind beanie.

Over the past year, I've heard some buckeye fans talk trash about MoWells, saying he ain't worth a damn. I like the guy tho and its obvious he's got speed. hoping he can do some good things and turn a few heads this year.

I wonder if the NFL looks at college as a minor league system for them, and gives college coaches advice on how to use players to showcase their abilities for the next level...

We all know Mo has a world of talent but it is not in trying to run a three yards and a cloud of dust offense. His talents just have to be utilized properly. He has a world of speed as noted on his 14(?) yard td up the middle last year. He was in the endzone before anyone could blink.
If he was the No1 back he would have all the plays designed for him and he wouldn't have any detractors.
Mo will do just fine.

I'd love to see Mo Wells used in more outside run situations. He seems best suited on sweeps, when he has time to sneak in and out of seams. He's not an inside the tackle kind of runner. Hopefully he'll be used outside more next season.

I'd like to see him catch a quick screen pass to the outside. Small caught a couple of what I'm thinking about last year. But maybe Hall shouldn't be lined up as the "Ginn" in "shot-Ginn" - just line him up in the normal formation. Or maybe Hall is perfect for the shot-Ginn formation. Get him and Chris Wells in there at the same time, and defenses can't cheat outside or inside, on any particular play.

I agree with both of you. If we can get him outside, however you want to do it, in space, with a chance of a one vs. one against a safety or linebacker, he will be very dangerous. Screens, pitches, swing passes, whatever. Get him outside and he could take it to the endzone on any given play IMO...

Not to change the subject too much, but which is more difficult from a defensive standpoint: getting beat up all day by someone like Chris Wells, and then trying to stop a speedster like Maurice Wells, or chasing down Maurice Wells all day long, and then get beat up by someone like Chris Wells?

Offense Wins Scarlet Jerseys in Jersey Scrimmage

It's pretty tough to know what really happened in yesterday's scrimmage in Ohio Stadium. What we know for sure is that the offense won, that there were probably four interceptions, two of them by cornerback-turned-safety Kurt Coleman, that Maurice Wells made an impressive touchdown run, and that Todd Boeckman threw two touchdown passes.
