Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

I'm kind of shocked we didn't get any compensation for the amount of players we had to unload for Latos. He should solidify the SP rotation a bit more than Volquez could have ever hoped for, but I still hate getting rid of Grandal. I was hoping he would see some time in the Bigs this year.

Grandal is as blocked as Alonzo in our system so I can live with that.

Box is a good young bullpen arm but he's still just a bullpen guy. You can have that fucking retard Volquez.

Latos is a young TOR type guy who's under control the next 4 years. Those don't come cheap and we have zero of them in the system near MLB ready.

If Latos performs and they don't puke all over themselves filling LF this is a good trade both ways imo.

Here's the optimist in me; what if Chapman lives up to his promise as a starter in this window that's now open? Cueto, Latos, Chapman (if he's what we hope he can be) would be a pretty damn good big 3.

 If Chapman can be a CONSISTENT SP, I'll be REALLY happy about this deal that was made. The prospect of Latos, Cueto, and Chap could be absolutely deadly.

Not only that but then you have a guy like Mike Leake who becomes your #4 SP who has had 2 very good seasons as a MLB SP already.

The Reds rotation looks very good on paper. The NL central got weaker this off-season also with AP gone, Fielder most likely gone, Braun suspended 50 games. Time to win is now.

So who's our #5? Travis Wood? I liked what I saw from him last year. Or will he be in the bullpen?

Is Bronson Arroyo still on the team?

Depends if Reds put Chapman as a starter or back to the BP. I know they said the plan is for him to be the starter but that could be all talk. Even if they make him a starter it will take him before he reaches rotation.

Latos
Cueto
Leake
Bailey
Arroyo

Wood - The odd man out.

One more question.... Why the fuck is Nick fucking Masset still on this roster?

Makes me wonder if they won't use Chapman as the closer now.

At least something to talk about.
