He struck out seven and walked two.

"I wish I had a little more command, but I felt pretty good. My arm was in good shape and my legs responded well," the three-time Cy Young Award winner said. "I'm trying to be good, but at the same time careful and smart. It's not like I'm a young buck."

Martinez, 33, expects to throw a bullpen session Thursday before taking the mound to start the regular season against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.

"He's ready to roll," Mets manager Willie Randolph said in Viera, before his team faced the Washington Nationals.

"It was encouraging to see him pitch. I don't look at it as any kind of test, because he was facing Triple-A guys. But he was happy, and that's good for me."

coastalbuck - 2 home runs in the 9th -- what a way to battle back.
Did you see the interview Dunn (he had one of those homers) had in SI? Seemed to me he was pretty candid on how poor the Reds were in recent years, which lends some credence to the upbeat mood Dunn spoke of for this years team.

The Reds gotta a lotta pop in that lineup IF they stay healthy. That's been the problem the last fews years.

And this one belongs to the Reds!
