Resurrect lost BP users and friends

Clarity

So all the work and changes and new life breathed (and being breathed) into BP has made me think about people who have wandered off over the last year or two.

I've sent PMs to a couple. In the off chance that they had email notifications set maybe they'll be back (I already lured @gbearbuck back in. Blood in, blood out, bro -- there is no escape.)

@Deety has been MIA, hope she's well and that we'll see her back soon.

Take a moment and do a search for old-crew valued names. Look to see when they were last on. If it was before NLOID, take a moment to drop them a PM. As much as I want to invite new talent to our ranks, I'd like to see some of the old guard swing through as well. BP wouldn't have been BP without them.

Sloopy45 hasn't been on since Jul 16, 2008. E-mailed him to see if he responds. What's weird is that I can find him via the AdminCP search but he doesn't show up in a normal user search and when I try to user tag him with the ampersand he doesn't show up.

I think after a certain number of years the system doesn't keep the name cached in such a way that would allow it to populate.

I dropped a good 20 PMs off to people who haven't been around in quite a while. If they have email notifications turned on they'll get them. Would be fun to draw some old names back in for what's going to be another epic season. Combine that with some quality new joins and this could be a blast both on and off the site.

Dynasty is one of the people I private messaged. If they have reporting turned on it will email them, if off it won't bother them. If you're going to poke someone, I definitely recommend PM.

PlanetFend, yeah, really wish he'd come back; but I get the need to wipe internet history clean and move on when life and/or job demands it. Perhaps someday.

Haven't seen CCI in a while.

TallIndian was one of my PMs. And I've already heard back from one long-missing member -- but I'll certainly let him make a splash with his own greeting if/when he's ready.

Coming off a national championship, making a comically fun (juiced) run for a playoff shot at another, the site is singing -- it's a good time to reach out to old friends.

Tibor, huh? And I've already had a PM about Gatorubet. There'd have to be serious conversations about both. Those of you who are FB or Twitter friends with Tibor know that the good DoctorB's favorite hobby is still trolling. But if there was enough support to reinstate him (or anyone else) then I would at least start a dialog about it with the other admins.

Above all else, what I wouldn't do is bring someone back who makes running the site harder for those who do it. Not saying that's what the aforementioned people would necessarily do, but permabans aren't given to legitimate and willing/active posters lightly.
