Road rage driver runs himself over with his own truck
The man neglected to pull the handbrake before leaving his vehicle to harass another driver

A man involved in a road rage incident earlier this week was left injured after he was run over by his own truck.

Joseph H. Carl of Gainesville, Florida was intoxicated and was surrounded by a stench of alcohol, according to Police reports, when the incident occurred.

The 48 year-old had driven his truck into the back of the car in front of him after it stopped at a traffic light.

Carl then stepped out of his car and began to bang on the window of the other driver, neglecting to pull up the hand break on his pick-up truck.

When the other driver sped off in fear, there was nothing holding Carl's pick-up truck back and it proceeded to roll over him.

Reports claim that Carl stood before the car with his arms outstretched in an attempt to hold the car back, but to no avail.

When police and paramedics arrived at the scene, Carl initially refused medical treatment but was then treated for fractures in his foot when he was taken to a nearby hospital.

He also was found to have a blood-alcohol level of .22, nearly three times the legal limit for drunken driving in Florida. Carl was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and property damage.

Several wonderful things here:

1. "Carl stood before the car with his arms outstretched in an attempt to hold the car back, but to no avail." It's like Otto being run over by the steamroller in "A Fish Called Wanda".

2. WTF is a hand "break"? Journalist was probably a Gator

3. That "H." probably stands for "hot".

And just because . . .

I hope the guy that got rear ended said, "Oh n-n-n-no, it's C-C-C-Carl! C-c-c-c-coming to k-k-k-kill me!" before leaving the scene.

On a related note I think a daily blog/site dedicated to [Mark May] you would only see happen in Florida would be a hit.

There are literally 2-3 carls a week down there and that's not even trying to find the real good local stuff.
I winter in Florida (shuffleboard and the whole works). Last January there was an article in the local paper talking about all the weird things that happen in the state that seem to happen nowhere else. It was several pages long and read like a cross between the Darwin Awards and Guinness Book of World Records.
