Columbus (OH) Eastmoor Academy

Ht: 6-foot-1
Wt: 180 lbs
Forty: 4.4 secs
Bench max: 250 pounds
GPA: 3.7

Believe it or not, he is on Ohio State's radar as of now. Has the grades, holding a 3.7 GPA through his first two years of HS, even more impressive considering every student at Eastmoor Academy follows a tough college curriculum. I've only seen him play a few times this season, but what I noticed most about him is how fast and hard he gets to the receiver. I'm not saying OSU will offer him, but there is potential.

Offers and Verbals

Eastmoor Academy free safety Ronald Tanner has been offered by West Virginia. Updated state list him at 6-2 190 and running a 4.5...on the honor roll...and made over 100+ tackles last season. Will be an interesting one to follow...

GBW $ - Michigan Visit Opens Tanner's Eyes

Says he grew up an OSU fan but the visit to AA really opened his eyes to Michigan...has offers from West Virginia, Pitt and Michigan and is hearing from OSU, MSU, Northwestern and Wisconsin. Had OSU as his favorite but the visit has him looking hard at UM and WVU as well.

Tanner lands West Virginia offer

Class of 2011 safety Ron Tanner (Columbus, Ohio/Eastmoor) has landed his first scholarship offer. The 6-1, 190-pound ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect, who plays both safety and quarterback for the Warriors, has a scholarship offer on the table from West Virginia.

Tanner, who is projected as a defensive back in college, is drawing interest from many other schools as well including Ohio State and Michigan. He will be part of a huge contingent of top prospects in Ohio Stadium on Saturday night attending the big prime-time showdown between Ohio State and USC.

C'mon Columbus City League! I used to play Columbus City League and we do have players. Maybe not always OSU caliber players but if you look at it there have been numerous kids who've went to Minnesota, Illinois, WVU, UC, etc etc.

This kid went to the same HS as Isiah Pead (now a RB for Cincinnati, and a guy I couldn't tackle for the life of me the one time I played him), and I hope everything works out for him!

There's a strong sentiment out there that Ronald will be offered and commit to tOSU before the end of his H.S. season...

The same sentiment was out there for Pead, Jacob Ramsey, and Jeff Cumberland. All of the city league meetings and camps I went to as a player with these guys, all of their coaches expected Ohio State offers.

I think Tanner does see an offer, because some of the things that held back the aforementioned players are not an issue with Tanner. His academics are fully in line.
