S Tanner McCalister (Cleveland Browns)

Yeah I have been really impressed with the way this guy has carried himself. I said earlier in this thread that he was the most important recruit from last cycle. Anxious to see him play but you just get a sense that he has already been invaluable to the overhaul.

In two games he’s recorded two total tackles and I think I’ve heard his name called a grand total of one time across two TV broadcasts. Might be a contributing factor towards why Burke has been picked on a bit. Tanner has played the fifth most snaps on defense and had his man locked down so well he’s been completely invisible.

I was just about to say Tanner hasn't had his name called and in a good way, he's getting the job done.

TANNER MCCALISTER, JK JOHNSON AND JYAIRE BROWN STEP UP TO LEAD BANGED-UP OHIO STATE SECONDARY AGAINST WISCONSIN

No Buckeye defensive back had a bigger night against the Badgers than McCalister, who set the tone for the Buckeyes’ defense on the Badgers’ very first possession of the game when he intercepted a Graham Mertz pass and returned it to the 16-yard line, putting the Buckeyes in position to score their second touchdown of the night and take an early 14-0 lead.

McCalister, who also had four tackles in Saturday’s game, made an even more impressive play in the final minute of the first half. When Skyler Bell beat Johnson deep for what could have been a 41-yard touchdown catch on 4th-and-3, McCalister broke back to the ball and got there just in time to knock the ball away, preserving a 31-7 halftime lead for the Buckeyes.

I don’t think “Skyler Bell beat Johnson deep” because OSU was in Dime, so it was McCalister’s zone, but that doesn’t change the effort he put out and the beauty of the play. Committed to doing his job - impressive.
