If the staff were in to see him along with Shugarts, and they still didn't offer, I'd say he's not going to get an offer; period.

Actually, I don't agree with that. I don't think the final determination will be based on a final visit to his high school by a couple of coaches. What are they going to learn about Sam from that visit that they don't already know having been in to see him before and having seen his film? The way I see it, if he does come to camp, then that shows me that he is serious about getting an offer from OSU. I think that is when the final determination will likely be made...the question is whether or not Sam will wait that long.

I didn't realize they had already been in to see him before. All I can think of is to assess whether he wants an offer for the sake of an offer, or whether he is really interested in OSU. But you're right. Camp might be a better place to assess that.

here's something I don't understand

after reading the rivals story about McGuffie a few days ago, why isn't Michigan more excited over the fact that Darryl Stonum is recruiting McGuffie to Michigan? To me Stonum reminds me of USC's Steve Smith. I think he'll make a bigger impact at Michigan than a McGuffie would.

Stonum hasn't leapt defenders in a single bound for all to see; it's natural to be more buzzed about the guy everyone in the world has seen on Youtube. Also, Stonum's said stuff like "I'm probably going to Michigan" earlier, so that note could be interpreted as things Michigan fans already expect to happen.

good point but when Florida and USC really wants a kid like him, and he still wants Michigan, I'd be a happy little fellow.

The Scout Michigan folks have certainly been playing up the Stonum/McGuffie thing...they add the picture of the two of them at a track meet to just about every udpate they do about either one.

You are right. Michigan is on him hard and he seems to have a genuine interest in them as with OSU but the way he was quoted seemed to emphasize his interest in USC.

There are so many great kids, it is hard to choose as is their choice in college.

Sounds like McGuffie needs tOSU more than tOSU needs McGuffie. Apparently we are not drooling all over someone that scUM is trying to rub into our faces. (or was that just MGoBlue29?) The fact that we haven't offered yet is a telling sign, so much so that Sam himself has noticed the difference. We don't recruit like the rest of 'em do. If he indeed wants to play in the 'shoe, he may very well get his chance. But he's supposedly all Blue, and hasn't even smelled Ann Arbor. My bad, I mean, he hasn't even been to Ann Arbor. I wouldn't count on a silent verbal that hasn't even seen where he eats his lunch.

Think of the possible impact of an offer to him on the recruits we have and have offered. If we were to make a frivolous offer to someone who is just about commited to tsun ,or is said to be, what effect would that have on our credibility. It doesn't surprise me that we haven't assuming that everything I have read and heard is true. For all we know Sam has let us know that he isn't interested.

No doubt my friend. I know exactly what you mean. We have limited spots, and also may have some position promises that have been made, and that have been accepted. I just mean, how devastating would it be to the skunkbears if SMcG wore a scarlet jersey? A luxury to tOSU, while a necessity up north,.. let's go get him.....
