Seahawks (ex-USC) Coach Pete Carroll (official thread)

Am I wrong or is all of this speculation because he said "I won't interview for any jobs" and not "I will be at USC next year"?

Carroll has a good thing going at USC...huge media market without an NFL franchise that has really latched onto these guys, he'd be nuts to go...not to say that NFL money can't make someone a little nuts :)

Dont forget..when a coach of his statuture says.."I wont interview..." That simply means he wont formally sit down...but perhaps if the Texans offer total control and 6 at 6..its all another story...It just semantics man.

The Trojans are 12-0 this season and haven't lost a game since Sept. 27, 2003. Since Oct. 6, 2002, USC is 45-1. In those 45 victories, only five were decided by less than a touchdown.
As a college head coach, Carroll is 42-9 (all at USC).
Do those numbers add up or is it just me? How can USC be 45-1 if Carroll is 42-9??
It's just you...:wink2:

Good point, overall he was 34-33 (which is a winning record).

Besides the glory of the superbowl, potentially more money, and looking for a new challenge; another couple reasons that some coaches would prefer the NFL over college is that you don't have to mess with the recruiting process or have to worry about the players passing their classes and/or graduating.

Those NFL coaching numbers aren't horrible at all. Much better than the Ol' ball coach. In college you have a little more control over your success in my opinion; especially an excellent recruiter like ol petey boy at a school with great facilities, location, and tradition. In the NFL you have to deal with the salary cap, free agency, etc. If he is offered a job in the NFL you can bet that team is currently pretty bad and may take a couple of years to build up. That is the exact same situation that Petey walked into at SC. He needed a couple of years to build them up and he now can do what no one has ever done. If SC wins a 3rd straight nat'l championship, how can he not at least entertain the idea of a new challenge. I am curious which college team has the highest NFL draft eligible players on their current rosters in terms of projected salary. This is almost impossible to measure at this point but I am curious. I bet USC and Texas have to be 1, 2.

He's not going anywhere soon folks...not a chance just media hype or jocking for a better deal....and SC will PAY!!! Don't kid yourselves.

USC stands for "University of Solid Cash"

Personally I think he's a weasel but can't argue with his success of late....anyway Hookem' Horns!!!
