WestEnd

look ma no shoelaces, and I'm down with the KIIING

Really, the question in my mind is how this could have taken Gilbert all day today to make this decision. I was expecting him to be let go as soon as the horn sounded in the nets game last night.

Hopefully Gilbert can bring in somebody that knows a thing or two about what a good basketball player looks like. (Let me tell you this much, they don't look like Jiri Welsch)

edit ... actually, I also just read the AP story on the front page of cleveland.com, and they brought up the good point that if paxson could do anything, he could dump a contract. I'll give him credit for that much at least.

the guy before him was worse.
Embry was pretty bad too, but the thing is, even if the cavs never had any cap room all these seasons that they've been horrible, they've had so many high draft picks to bring imact players aboard, and all they've done is, minus Andre Miller, BOTCH them up.

At the end of the day, I'm finding it kind of hard to hate paxson all that much, because his inocmpetance brought us Lebron, and that's really all that matters.

You've got to think that whoever the new GM is, there's going to be some serious roster changes before next season. I could realistically see the only holdovers being Lebron, Snow(contract), Luke Jackson, and Varejeo.

I'll bet they hold on to Gooden, but the thing is, he's the only guy on the team that anybody would ever want to trade for ... maybe pavlovic cause he's got some upside.

At any rate, a whole new team is probably gonna show up for training camp next year ... which is great.

mixed feelings... I do give Pax credit for ridding the Cavs of an insurmountable load of crap named Shawn Kemp and a contract paying him about $80M a year for the next 50 years... so he did find some fool (Blazers) to take it...

but just how can one miss the mark so badly on the other 10 moves he made and his terrible 1st round draft choices...

and lastly, I must concur with WestEnd because if Pax wasn't so shitty, we wouldn't have got LeBron... and we wouldn't even have a cornerstone to build...

Anybody who follows the Cavs that thinks life is going to get good around here is a damn fool. Dan Gilbert is an eccentric asshole. This guy is a Mark Cuban "wannabe" who is going to be the worst thing to happen to Cleveland sports since Ted Stepien. Bank on it.

What? So far he's 2 for 2. He's fired a thin-skinned, short-tempered, un-professional coach who wasn't going to take the cavs to the finals, but was great for guiding Lebron through his first few years in the NBA ... and a totally incompetant GM who had no business running the team as long as he did.

Although, if he brings in some clown GM and a useless coach, I could agree with you. So far, so good though.
