SF Jae'Sean Tate (2018 2nd team All B1G, Houston Rockets)

Relentless
Jae?Sean Tate provides a great foundation for Ohio State?s 2014 recruiting class.

Jae?Sean Tate has heard it all when coaches or recruiting analysts try to define his game.

No matter what position they say the 6-5 Pickerington (OH) Central standout plays, or projects out at, he will continue to do what he?s always done.

It?s what allowed him to secure a spot on the Ohio State Buckeyes and put on dominating performances like he did Friday and Saturday at the NY2LA Sports Swish ?N Dish with his club team All Ohio Red.

?They used to have me as an undersized forward,? Tate said. ?But I?ve been working this year really on my dribbling, and shooting off the dribble. When I?m on the court, there?s really no position. Basketball is basketball. I?m just out there playing hard. The ratings really don?t matter to me. Out there I?m just trying to get the win. I hate losing. I give 100 percent every time.?

Very nice. We lost to the Georgia Stars last week at the Clemson Certified event and they were tournament champs. They're a solid team with players that Georgia and Georgia Tech are looking at. That's an impressive win for All-Ohio Red.

is he going to play small forward at osu ?

Good question. Best answer right now is maybe. It kind of depends on if he grows and who else is on the OSU roster. He could grow a couple inches and be a 4, but if he doesn't grow then he would be more of a 3 - with the caveat that if the team lacks quality players with more size to play the 4 in any given year, that could shift him to that position primarily even if he doesn't get taller. I think Jae'Sean is a David Lighty type player, he may switch between the 3 and 4 depending on who else is on the team.

I'm glad he's planning on coming to OSU, I'm ultimately not very worried about where he will play. Definitely the type of blue collar, program guy you can build around. Good get for Matta.

By D1 Circuit
Help decide who was the best point-producing juggernaut in 2013

Here's a look at six of the best offensive studs in the 2013 Elite Youth Basketball League and in the running for the D1 Circuit Offensive Player of the Year award. Take some time to marvel at their achievements and then take your pick in the poll to the right to help decide who will be the winner. Voting ends at 4 p.m. (EDT) Tuesday, June 18th.

SF | Jae'Sean Tate | All-Ohio Red
18.4 PPG, 51.2 FG%, 69.5 FT%, 33.3 3PT%, 1.6 APG, 258 PTS
Jae?Sean Tate is the epitome of Ohio?s finest. The Pickerington, Ohio, native has already committed to the Ohio State. Tate averaged 18.4 points per game for All-Ohio Red, shooting 51.2 percent from the field. Tate really turned heads when he put up D1 Circuit?s Performance of the Year back on April 26 versus Georgia Stars. In that one, Tate dropped 40 points on 15-26 shooting to go along with 18 rebounds, five assists and eight steals.

Pickerington (Ohio) Central forward Jae?Sean Tate defends basketball
Ohio State commit Jae?Sean says basketball players are by far the Ultimate Athletes
Jason Jordan, USA TODAY High School Sports

Pickerington Central (Pickerington, Ohio) forward Jae?Sean Tate doesn?t completely shoot down the notion.

He takes a few minutes to mull over the possibility that another sport could produce better athletes than his beloved basketball.

?Ya know,? said Tate, an Ohio State commit. ?I know for sure now; basketball definitely has the best athletes. Think about all the things that we have to do over the course of a game. You can?t just be a good athlete you?ve got to be great to excel in this sport.?

Tate makes a rather convincing argument.

Check it out.

Why is the ultimate athlete in your sport?

?It?s definitely basketball. You?re always running and changing positions and you need a lot of coordination. It?s not a sport that you can just pick it up and be good at it. Your athleticism has to be superior in basketball. Best athletes are in hoops. No doubt!?
