SG Daequan Cook (Ironi Hai Motors Nes-Ziona - Israel)

---------------

I just looked at his videos on Rivals, and all I thought was "we don't get recruits like this!!". He is flat out amazing - a Michael Redd type player - except with more size.

#1 ranked shooting guard according to Rivals

Daequan Cook Makes Decision
By Jeff Goodman National Recruiting Analyst
Date: Mar 23, 2005

The No. 6 Player in the Class of 2006 is off the board. Daequan Cook has made his decision. Take a look at where he's headed.
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

The 6-4 ½, 200-pound Dayton Dunbar High (Ohio) shooting guard, who is Scout.com’s No. 6 player in the Class of 2006, will make an announcement later this afternoon and will choose the Buckeyes over Michigan, Wake Forest, North Carolina and Cincinnati. Spiece Indy Heat coach Mike Conley said that Cook is doing what is best form him.
Cook averaged 22 points and 12 boards this season. He can score in a variety of ways, has good size, is athletic and has a game similar to that of Ray Allen. He still needs to work on his ballhandling and his intensity, but he’s one of the elite players in the class

WOW....I am pumped to get Cook on campus. I'd love for Mike Conley to jump aboard as well, but you can't have it all.

Daequan will really help give the team another legitimate scoring threat. I've seen him play and the comparison to Micheal Redd is definitely fair.

OMG! I'm freakin esctatic! (I dont even know or care if I spelled that right!!!) This is HUGE, I'm mean huge!!!! Hopefully he works his magic to get some more top rated players this way! Cook is a dream come true, and the fact that there is so much talent left in the state of Ohio for '06 and '07 makes me drool for more!!! Lets go Matta, come on Cook, bring us a championship!!!

I'm way ahead of myself right now, but this is possibly the best early Buckeye B-Day present as well as a hell of a way to be waking up in the morning! I feel great!!

O-H!

Matta-like Bobby Knight-is a native midwesterner, and knows the talent in Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana like the back of his hand. Knight always said that he had all the talent he needed from just those three states, and he is correct. Unlike Kight, Matta doesn't frighten some recruits w/ his reputation before he can even get in contact with him. We are lucky that he is in place w/ the phenomenal upsurge in Ohio talent that is starting w/ the 2006 class.
Congatulations Daequan.

Just how big is this commitment for the Buckeyes? Cooked picked OSU over North Carolina and Wake Forest, both programs that were ranked in the Top five this season.
He also spurned Illinois 44820!
Last I checked they were ranked numero uno this season. In fact they still have that ranking in both polls.

Its a sea-change mateys -- I can feel that tidal surge.

Bigger stage for Matta and his (can we dare say proven) recruiting acumen and reach into the tri-state area. Its a good combination.

This is absolutely stunning and exciting news. Welcome aboard DaeQuan. I can guarantee with a pretty good certainty that he would not even have batted an eyelash at OSU if Obie were still here.

I agree with whoever said that a sea-change is beginning to occur here. I think OSU beginning this next year will finally join togther football and basketball as perennial top-10 programs year in and year out. I remember vividly at the beginning of the 90's not being able to wait for football to be over so we could get JJ and the boys at St. John's tickets. Then Ayers and his doomsday recruiting class reversed that and had us wanting b-ball to be over so we could get to spring football. Now it appears that with this past basketball season with the competitiveness OSU showed with knowing there was no chance of a post-season that we can go back and forth between football and basketball and be excited all of the time about what is going on.

Throw in the Lady Bucks hoops and Men's Pucks making a run to the Frozen Four things are looking fantastic.

The Sears Trophy will reside with OSU in the not too distant future.

Great players seem to gravitate to schools with other great players. Getting a 5 star commitment has to help in persuading other 5 star players to attend Ohio State.
