SG Lenzelle Smith (Hapoel Eilat - Israel)

Smith or Golden?
That's a tough call but Smith want to be a Buckeye:biggrin:. I think I might take Smith because from what I read he is pretty versatile and can probably play at least 3 positions pretty easily and probably could be stretched to the 4 position. He is also physically strong and I also think has a fairly decent handle. Perhaps Golden was a better shooter but I like Smith.:)

Golden is the better scorer/shooter of the two, but like everyone else has said Smith has a better handle and is MUCH stronger at this stage of his development. The handle and his frame will allow Matta to use many different lineups with Smith (if Matta wants to go big put Smith at the 2 or possibly even then 1 OR if Matta wants to go small put Smith at the 3 or possibly the 4). Smith's versatility is what makes him a better player and more attractive to Matta IMO. With Golden you have an undersized 2 guard that is still developing his handle, but still a great scorer.

I take Smith for the main reason of what Golden said after his decommit...If you are not looking to compete at your position, and are more worried about where you rank in a rivals 100 then you are not in it for the right reasons, and I think Smith is much better for our program...

Reading that one post was like reading something from The Riddler...

So we are glad to have Smith over Golden? Who is more likely to run the point...Smith or Sibert? I assume Sibert?

Personally, I would have been glad to have either, but I think Smith gives us more options and he has such length.............

I don't see Smith playing the point other than in a pinch........I view Sibert as more of a two guard..........so I guess they could both play some minutes a PG but we really need Crater and possibly Offutt to hold it down......we need Teague or another pure point guard..........

I agree, I would say Smith is more likely to play the point in a pinch...I would liken him to Offut, as a combo guard where he could play the PG but his overall game may be more suited for the 2 guard...

As for Sibert I liken him to more of a wing/slasher...He can shoot it get to the rim and finish/Dunk...I would say he is more of a 2/3 combo...Kinda like Lighty...

And yes 2011 we need a pure point...Teague would be a great place to look...

Agree also but Crater and Offult will still be here for a couple years so I don't see Smith having to play a lot at the PG.

Don't forget about Stevie Taylor:)

Paul helps Warren stun Zee-Bees :: BOYS BASKETBALL :: YourSeason

Zion-Benton's Lenzelle Smith, an Ohio State recruit, nearly did a find a way to break Warren's heart. On his way to 17 fourth-quarter points and five three-pointers, Smith hit three consecutive threes in the final two minutes to pull Zion-Benton (5-1) within two baskets. Warren hit its free throws late to ice the win, but no one could blame Smith.

He finished with a game-high 39 points, including seven 3s, seven rebounds and three steals.

"He's a great player," Paul said. "He showed why he's one of the best, if not the best player in his class."

I love what I hear about this kid...his detractors will say he is a tweener because of his size and that he will struggle to defend the perimeter at the next level but I have heard he more than makes it up for it with his attitude and competitiveness...really excited about what this kid will bring along with Sullinger and the rest of the '10 class.
