That part had me rolling.
"We have defense contracts here, so they're committing treason!"
We often joke about DFBIA, in context of sports. But that was just plain braindead and they all bought in.
China already hacked every college campus and stole IP 10+ years ago.
Sensitive information isn't kept on campus networks. Not then and not now.
NIPRnet / NMCI / whatever we're calling it this decade is a whole echelon of security higher than anything on any University campus... and that's just for sending unclassified office nastygrams about inventories and reports of survey.
These people are too dumb to have car keys. They're so stupid, their lawmakers invented the Michigan Left Turn.

If I recall correctly, an unrelated investigation stumbled upon the sign stealing videos on the UM computer network and they knew that assistant coaches were accessing it.

I would guarantee that the coordinators, who create the game plans and call sheets, 100% were accessing that drive.
