SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

With his new 4yr extension, I honestly could see him fulfilling that entire contract. There just isn't any other viable options, and Bike Hart isn't yet ready to take over... But in 4yrs 8D
They get another _ichigan man, this time on the cheap.

He very well could complete his contract; however, who knows if some big name high profile coach drops in their lap. The door is open for a (really cheap) buyout, especially by most other Power 5 coaches' contract standards.

If Michigan wants to buyout Harbaugh, it would cost $4,000,000 for the 2021 season, decreasing by $1 million every following year. If Harbaugh wants out of his deal, it would cost him $2 million this year, decreasing by $500,000 every following year.

I'm well aware of his cheap buyout, but you're not realizing that scUM is still in full only _ichigan man hires. And the only other alum there is with name recognition is Bike Hart. Now that all could change in a few years. But I'm running a blank on any names, especially since Les Miles has essentially been banished from CFB. Hairball could have 7-8 win seasons until 2025. The only way any doubt of his job is brought up, is if he can't even make a bowl game(which is next to impossible with 3 cupcake OOC, Nebraska, Maryland, Rutgers and Illinois/Purdue)

Jim Harbaugh: Like nearly everybody else, my opinion of Harbaugh has dropped in recent years when it comes to these rankings. I think this might be a little too low, but when it comes to Harbaugh, everything seems embellished one way or the other. I had him at No. 17 on my ballot. I mean, he went 2-4 last season, but Michigan has still been a solid top-20 program during his tenure. The inability to beat Ohio State looms large for obvious reasons, but we don't seem to hold that against other Big Ten coaches like we do Harbaugh. 2020 rank: 12 (-11)

Ryan Day is at #4 behind Riley, The Preacher, and Satan.

If you're Michigan, you think you should be a power-house team. And maybe you should be. But if you're a power-house team, you can't be 0-5 against anybody. In the 80's, Ohio State was perennially a 9-3 team, and we felt that we could be / should be better. Fire that coach and bring in John Cooper, who brought the team up a little, but couldn't beat Michigan. You aren't a power-house team with a 2-10-1 record against ANYONE, Michigan or otherwise. So let's get rid of him and bring in another guy.

Harbaugh absolutely needs to be judged by his records against individual teams. If he's 0-4, 0-5, etc. against ANYONE, he probably shouldn't be ranked very high. The other Big Ten teams don't think they should be "power-house" teams.

Harbaugh is ranked #23 overall, which puts him just outside the top third of Power5 head coaches, which isn't too bad, I guess.

But Harbaugh is seventh among Big Ten coaches behind Indiana's Tom Allen (#20); Wisconsin's Paul Chryst (#18); Iowa's Kirk Ferentz (#17); Penn State's James Franklin (#13); Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald (#8); and of course our very own Ryan Day (#4).

As far as Michigan being a solid top-20 program, here are their AP Poll finishes over the six years of Harbaugh's tenure:

2015: #12
2016: #10
2017: N/R
2018: #14
2019: #18
2020: N/R

Not too solid, IMHO, and a noticeable downward trend, but for some reason CFB writers can't get over their love affair with Harbaugh.

Bottom line is this: Harbaugh, unlike every other coach in the Big Ten with the possible exception of James Franklin, was specifically hired to beat Ohio State. Coaches don't get hired anywhere else to beat Ohio State because history shows that that's simply not a sustainable plan for success - Ohio State's record against the rest of the Big Ten besides Michigan is 488-137-22, for a .771 winning percentage. Harbaugh had one job, and to date he hasn't done it.

It really is incredible. They are still on the "He just needs more time" kick after 6 damn years.

The mirage of the first 2 seasons are completely gone. Since then he's 29-16. With the average loss coming by 16 POINTS. 11 of the 16 losses coming by double digits 6 of them by 21+ points.
