I still think he wants to return to Mich as a hero that “ultimately couldn’t leave Ann Arbor” or some BS.

But, he’s getting an escape plan just in case.

Then again, I’m not sure NFL execs would be happy wasting time with 2nd interviews if there wasn’t mutual interest. Maybe his brother’s success is irking him too.

DFBIA would definitely spin it that way it least, just like the last 2 years. It'll be "HE WAS ONLY USING THE NFL AS LEVERAGE TO GET A BIGGER DEAL WITH MICHIGAN!" while completely ignoring how much this is screwing with them when it comes to recruiting and now also hurting them with bringing in guys that can help from the portal.

Then he will of course do the exact same thing after the 2024 season if he happens to return, even though he's "sworn he will never do it again" twice already.

If he actually gets a offer from a NFL team he's gone though. Michigan is totally his fallback plan and it's more obvious than ever.

In the end though he won't be seen as the bad guy at all in the eyes of his loyal scUM followers. He will either be a martyr or a returning hero". They've already absolved him of any blame.

That's definitely how he's going to spin it if the Chargers and Falcons tell him to go fuck himself. But, I think he truly wants out. Aside from his dream team scattering to the winds, he knows he's facing LOIC, more suspension time and a probable post-season ban for a couple of years. He's a rat leaving a sinking ship.

I wonder if Ono will fly out to San Diego for the games and try to shower with the team.
Yes I agree with this. I think he wants out and has since 2020. Lucky for him he rigged his way into a title and beating OSU. Now that he’s done that, his team is a shell of itself with so many leaving and also with the sanctions still on the way?

He’d be a complete moron if he doesn’t go. Striking while the iron is hot is the saying? Well doesn’t get any better than this.

Because if he stays and goes 9-3 (at best), misses the playoffs, and then he gets hit with severe penalties? His appeal will be back to the days of 2020. Now is his time to capitalize and I think he will

I mean they’ll just transfer after the spring then.

Which is a weird way to sabotage your Alma, I guess. By the time spring/summer rolls around these kids are being divided and prepped for fall. Generally start setting your playbook against your roster and 2-deep. Giving the kids only 2-3 months before fall camp to transfer is a dick move. Playing checkers with their future.

That definitely still puts you at a disadvantage though as a player, as opposed to transferring now and being at your new school for spring practice. You miss out on a good amount and then just have to jump in when fall camp hits and hope you can grasp everything fast to compete for jobs.

Won't they get a 30 day window to transfer without penalty after he announces he's out?
They will but if it's too far into the semester they can't enroll in classes till summer and get to essentially start with new highschool kids in summer since you can't practice if you can't enroll.

It'd be silly and petty so I don't think it's something he'd think of but whatever

He's an egomaniacal dick who only cares about what's best for Simple Jim. Look at the fake QB battle that he held, so he could manipulate Reno Jesus into staying in 2022 to be the backup. He 100% knew that Spin Pass was going to "win" the competition over the first two games, but he wanted Reno Jesus there as insurance. Fuck what was best for Reno Jesus, which would have been to transfer after Spring 2022 and get going at his next destination.

Yes, agreed but some of these kids are really good players.

Like Graham, Johnson, Grant and Edwards.

The big gets don’t need the extra time in the new systems.

Seriously can you imagine the outcry if a coach at Ohio State was doing what Harbaugh does every year, holding his players hostage while he flaunts himself to the NFL after constantly claiming he "will never pursue the NFL ever again". We would never hear the fucking end of it. Simple Jim seemingly gets a free pass though.

The media totally protects Ohio State and is out to get Michigan and Harbaugh though

Media narratives are a funny thing, I think they really want him back in the NFL, he's worth more money to them back in the NFL. That's why there's no bashing going on at all, yet at least.

Of course even if major talking heads started pointing out how self serving Simple Jim is and how he is screwing over the vast majority of the scUM roster (if he makes the jump) and Screwed scUM over in general by handicapping them when it comes to recruiting/transfer portal recruiting. DFBIA would rush to their heroic martyrs defense in droves..

Everyone is also milking the Harbaugh brothers narrative.
Until somebody knocks the Ravens out, it will inexorably continue on. Right now we're on a collision course for Taylor Swift vs Harbaughs.
Im going to be sick, and i live in Baltimore.
