SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

I find it quite amusing that many Chargers fans think they hit a homerun with Hairball as their new head coach. Maybe he'll pan out. Based on his history, I find that hard to believe.

Yeah, this is a guy who has spent three years desperately trying to get to the NFL, and nobody wanted him. This year was simply the inevitable year where some NFL owner was finally desperate desperate enough to roll the dice on him hoping for a 49ers like defribbillator paddles jump start for the organization.

I mean for the chargers he is a homerun. he's a good coach that will get them into the playoffs and a few playoff wins. Then annoy the ever living hell out of them

They are getting all hyped because Harbaugh told them that there would be a Chargers to Michigan connection/pipeline

I can only assume the guy who left them high and dry after promising a bunch that "he'd never try to leave again" is talking out of his ass and could care less about Michigan. Wouldn't pick up the phone if they called.
How would that even work? Like here, this coach sucks dick, all yours?

His brother kicked him down a couple of ravens coaches so they think they are getting to get that same pipeline with Jim and the Chargers.

Except Jim usually doesn't get good coaches by himself like his brother does. As someone else mentioned, his assistant coaches were pretty meh at scUM overall until he started getting rentals from John.

With how things have gone though anyways, anyone who's not a complete idiot can see that Harbaugh really doesn't care about Michigan that much considering how he's leaving them high and dry. That family connection is now nothing with him gone.

Was that a case where they enlisted during the war and were assigned those roles? Certainly not the same as Simple Jim running to the NFL before the ncaa hammer hits. Osborne retired, and Schnellenberger left for the NFL. The latter is the one similar to Simple Jim, but I don't think he was running from ncaa sanctions.
Bierman was a 47-year old reserve in the Marines who got called to active duty one month after Pearl Harbor, then was assigned to Iowa Pre-Flight a few weeks later. That prevented him from having a shot at a second three-peat with the Gophers; they won titles in 34-35-36, although 1936 was the first year of the AP Poll. They were undefeated AP #1 in both 1940 and 1941.

Paul Brown coached the Buckeyes to their first National Title in 1942, but the team was a shell of itself in 1943 due to players going into the military; Ohio State was associated with the Army’s training program, which didn’t let guys play sports like the Navy’s V-12 program did. The 35-year old Brown was classified 1-A in 1944 and became the coach at Great Lakes Naval Training.

So neither left ‘voluntarily’ for another coaching job, like Schnellenberger and Harbaugh.

He walked into a SF team loaded with young talent that was just suffering from incompetent coaching. To his credit, he unlocked their potential. That's not the case with the Chargers.

Both army and navy skimmed off the top scorers on the AFQT Armd Forces Qualification Test and sent them off to colleges across the country, most were to be commissioned, but there were other technical speciality areas. Michigan and Iowa benefitted more than OSU. I’ve heard that the Navy program kept Notre Dame from having to close and is why they continue to schedule Navy every season.

My previous post was to answer Ords post about Michigan during wwii.

It's why A&M claims so many medal of honor winners. They were a "90 Day Wonder" site for the Army (the real one). So any young man who had just graduated (or left early) from Ohio State or Middlebury or wherever and was posted to College Station for OCS and subsequently received a MOH, aggy now claims as one of their alumni.
