Sizing up Doug Worthington

BuckeyePlanet.com

Doug Worthington is a five star Defensive End (St.Francis High School, Athol Springs, NY) and is a current Ohio State Commitment. He is one of the tallest members of this class at six feet seven inches tall and that size was immediately apparent the second he answered the telephone as he has one of the deepest voices I have ever heard. Doug was kind enough to spend some time with BuckeyePlanet.

Worthington has offers from a Who’s Who of college programs, but decided on Ohio State because, “The facilities there are second to none and Coach T is a class act. He’s not uppity like a lot of other coaches. And Coach Heacock is second to none as a d-line coach.”

He says he was impressed with the atmosphere when he visited for the Michigan game, “I was excited, everyone knew my name and I can’t wait to get back.” Doug added, “it was a great game and I am real proud of the way they played. They played hard and gave it to them.” He said he really “liked the skull session and the walk with the team, the fans are so proud and so crazy.”

Doug has already established a solid friendship with one current Buckeye in Kyle Mitchum. He even said he plans to live with Kyle during the summer quarter this year. When asked what it was like to line up opposite his friend in a previous game, he said, “Kyle battled me pretty good one-on-one. He gave me some problems and I think I gave him some problems. It was a great battle. He played great and I played great and I am excited to be with him at Ohio State.”

Worthington plans to spend his time (after basketball season) “lifting to gain strength, speed and benching up.” He said he “will do the best he can to be prepared for next year. Look at what A.P. has done at Oklahoma to make an impact. I can’t wait to get down there and prove myself. Hopefully, I can be like Teddy Ginn.”
