Skeete's Arrest & (sort of) Related Topics

The Others?

LightningRod said:
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, May 20 at 9:30 AM. His attorney, John Waddy, posted a $1,000 appearance bond on Skeete's behalf. Hopefully Skeete is teh only OSU athlete who will be implicated in this mess.
According to a news snipet when asked about other _Athletes_ being involved a police officer affirmed that there were indeed others involved. What was not made clear was whether these other athletes were football players.

It is one thing to have split up a bag and selling some grams to your friends at the frat house and it is another to be selling a 1/2 lb. It is the difference between shop-lifting and robery.

IMO he will still walk but he should be done as far as the program goes.
Even though I understand your point, I think selling/distributing drugs is very serious even if it is to only friends. I don't know enough about the subject to comprehend how many "cigs" a 1/2lb is, but if you sell or give out more than a couple you are a dealer in my book....petty dealer perhaps but still a dealer. Just my opinion. This kid should not play football at OSU if convicted or even if he pleads to a lesser charge. Retaining his scholarchip so he can graduate, well that will be a decision for Tress and Smith (whom will have a lot more information about the situation than we ever will)

The bottom line is that it's illegal and he knew it. He also knew that if he was caught, it would jeopardize his career at Ohio State. He made the decision to do it anyway, and therefore, his career at OSU should be over.

Everything else is political bullshit.

OK maybe I wasn't clear.

This thread is about Ohio State kicker Jonathan Skeete. It is not a political, moral or philisophical debate about Singapore, marijuana, cocaine, addiction, or monkey's throwing poop. PLEASE take that discussion to another forum (try Open Discussion).

Things are emotional enough on this thread without the additional drama.

EDIT: Comments not directed at Bucklion. Bad timing on my part.

Actually a real mod would try and regain a bit of composure in the thread and try to return it to it's intended course. But what do I know ... I'm now an Admin ...

That's the last time I try and save one of your threads from going down the crapper 21

What exactly are you trying to say Alan? I only see 3 legs, but I think there's a good possibility of 4!

So he sold 200 grams to and undercover officer according to www.nbc4i.com. How much is 200 grams whens it comes to size? What could I compare it to?

It sounds to me like he is done for. Its a felony that I really doubt he will be able to plea bargain out of.

I went to Brookhaven High School, a columbus public school, and it sounds to me like Tressel might as well go back to the urban setting to recruit. I mean Mo Hall never got in any trouble and he was a columbus public school product. These suburban kids are causing all kinds of ruckus at tOSU. But maybe I have a biased opinion.

200 grams equals 0.440924 pounds... selling a half pound is stupid... selling a half pound to a person you don't know is dumb as a box of rocks...

I still think he can plea out of this... The cops would love to know who he buys from. If he rats his source, he could plea down a charge or two...

I'm not a lawyer, but I know enough kids that were busted in college that did manage to reduce the charge by letting the cops know who they purchased from...

If my deductions are correct, that's over 7 ounces. That won't fall into the "personal use" category unless this guy is Bob Marley on a 5 week cruise. He's f*#$ed.
