Pheasant

This space for rent.
I had a niece born yesterday, she's number 16- but the first for my 2nd oldest brother (7 kids- yes, my parents are catholic :wink2:). My sister in law was in labor for 36 hours before they did a c-section. After a brief stuggle to start breathing she was fine for the first 7 hours of her life. Then she started having small seizures that stopped her breathing. The hospital in Findlay exhausted their diagnostic capabilities, which evidently aren't very extensive, so at about 10 pm last night she was taken to Toledo Childrens Hospital.
My brother is there now, and will be there until she comes home. His wife will probably be released from the hospital tomorrow, and will go up to Toledo as soon as possible. The way the doctors are talking she could be there for several weeks while they try to determine what's causing the seizures. She had a CT scan last night, and everything looked normal. Blood tests are ongoing, and an MRI will probably be done today, if it hasn't already been. I came home from there this morning at around 4, and will be heading back later today.
My brother is the pastor of a church, and probably the best suited member of my family to deal with something like this, but I don't know how he's going to be able to keep doing his ministry since he will be in Toledo indefinitely. His wife has been unable to see her newborn for the past 14 hours, and won't be able to see her until tomorrow at the earliest. I can't even imagine what she's going through, and I know my brother is struggling- which I've never seen him do before.
I would appreciate any prayers you could offer.

It is hard to fathom God's wisdom in things like this, but I have no doubt it is there. Your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless you all and give you what you need to get through this.

The NICU/Childrens Hospital is an amazing place and the doctors and nurses can do amazing things. Some here know my story so I'll keep it short... my twins were born 12 weeks early and they were in the NICU for 7 weeks. As soon as they were born they were taken away from us as well... we went about 6 hours before they were stable enough for us to see them so I know how your sister in law feels. There will be ups and downs and then more ups and downs. Know that the child is in good hands and they will do everything they can for her. My thoughts and prayers will be with your family.

Prayers and good thoughts from the Hoat family. We have experience with Dayton's Childrens NICU when our twins were born. If they are anything like Dayton the little one is in good hands.
