Spring Football - 2005 (mega-merge)

It's official, I bought my 2 tickets and me and the little lady will be down. I don't see us making it at 6, 7, 8 or even 9...but 10 is definitely reasonable. I'll bring some Cokes (not the big drinker) and dogs or something, but I mainly want to go to see some of the faces of you geeks. :)

SO who is going to hold themselves responsible for the "Hello My Name Is" stickers because I think these are KEY. They'll be hilarious and it'll be a huge riot to see who is who on this wacked out board.

You all better make for a good time. I just found out that I have to miss one of the 3 golf outings that I play in every year for the game. Last year was awesome. I had a golf outing on one Saturday, another GO the next Friday, and the Spring Game on saturday. When will people realized that they shouldn't schedule stuff the same day as anything OSU football related.

where is it common knowledge that whitner is playing corner and everette SS?
When JT responded to a question about TGII not playing any defense, he mentioned that Whitner would be the 2nd corner. I'd go find the article, but I'm too lazy.

And to make a quick reference to the Fox comment...though it's just a funny right now, the only game where it really hurt me to watch Fox was when Brandon Lloyd outjumped him for about 5-6 passes in the Illinois game a couple of years back. Of course Lloyd has 6 inches on Fox, but for the most part, Dustin was a stellar corner and a great technique tackler.

here is the direct quote from whitner:

“I’m playing strong safety right now,” he said. “Later on in the spring, I am going to move to some corner and stay at strong safety. But if something happens – if one of the guys isn’t ready for the season – I’ll probably be at corner, and Tyler (Everett) would probably come back and be the safety. Or, they could move Tyler to corner and I would be the safety.”

seems like the other corner spot is far from definate. looks like whoever is better between whitner and everette will be corner, and the other will be a safety.

Dang, I need to read the more recent articles. :) Sounds like they're jockeying for the spot. Of course then you have to ask, is that good competition if they both would rather play SS?

Of all of our current young DBs, I wonder who is coming on the strongest to actually get some PT at the 2nd corner this year. B.Underwood? Welch? Lane? M. Roberts? I have no clue but would love to see where they stand in the coaches' eyes. Of course you have to throw JamO in that list as he'll be on campus soon and certainly getting PT somewhere as a true frosh.

Not to mention that Fox was playing with a hip injury that game. :roll1:

Worst cover guy I have ever seen, though.

You're shittin' me, right? I guess you slept through the early-2002 games when EJ Underwood was getting torched more often than Tiki lamps at a luau. He should've changed his name to IM Underfoot, as in under the feet of opposing receivers.

Wow, he must be the only cover guy you have seen then,
He wasn't the best, but he did pretty well. Also, he was playng out of position because he was the best they had. If he was the best, imagine what was behind him.

I have no problem with Fox. I wish he was still here.

its unfortunate that B. Underwood wont be participating in spring drills, however, lane and welch are going to get a ton of reps, so they may be able to prove something.

my opinion is that if B. Underwood, Welch or Lane starts at cb, it may be a good thing as it means they have shown enough to keep from moving a safety over.

Hooblers legs look really thin, but Freeman looks very built! Hawk and co. all look like they've worked hard pretty much!

The statement by Haw talking about the tailbacks speed this year gets me very excited! I dunno about you guys but in college football now days it seems to be all speed in the backfield rather than power. Don't get me wrong I like the bull dosing type of backs also, but like Haw says they have the ability to take it to the house every play!

Infact so excited I'm just going to head down into the basement and strike up NCAA 2005.

Yeah I don't really think it matters who plays the other corner spot because they'll probably have safty help more of the time. I like our chances with any of these guys. However, if I had my pick I'd go with Whitner because he use to be corner and was the #1 corner coming out of high shool.
