Spring Football - 2005 (mega-merge)

I can bring a few other snacks, but I'll bring a big tubberware thing of buckeyes (peanut butter dipped in chocolate) for starters.

If we can get a TV or two that would be awesome... it would be cool if someone could bring a laptop so we could showcase BP to some people that just stop by and wonder what its all about...
I should ding you for explaining what a buckeye is. :p

I predict that the weather will be good, but people will still be scared away. It'll be overcast, or something where people think it will rain. But any rain that day will be light enough that no one will worry about it. And by "no one," I mean the true buckeye fans, not those "What should we do today? I don't know.. Let's go to the Spring Game, if we can't find anything better to do" people.

Anyway, 51,500.

What are predictions for how much people will play? Will Holmes and Ginn play much? And will some players wear the black shirts? Who? Have the teams been set? And I think I heard Smith is allowed to play - is that right?

Here are my fearless predictions:
-Holmes will play a max of 2 series if at all
-Ginn won't see the second half
-The QB's will be in black because they have to be able to switch teams like last year. TS will probably get to put on a normal jersey for a while, but he would have been killed last year if they let him wear the white jersey the whole game. I believe that our D has more speed than anyone we faced last year even in the spring game. They were all over TS last year, but the O-lines will be better this year so who knows.
-The seniors will be sure to ask if the QB's will be in black before the draft. :p
-Not counting Ginn I'd look for Gonzo, Dukes, Lyons, and the RB's to make the difference in the game.
-And for my Captain Obvious pick Ginn will be the first pick in the draft.

Tressel said that that offense won 92-39, while sports information director Steve Snapp, after reviewing the tape, claimed the score was actually 95-39.
Hmmm.. we got us a controversy! Maybe the kick that hit the upright bounced in not out?

Seriously, I am getting VERY excited about this year's team. I'm loving what I'm hearing about the OL & RB. Sounds like FB and TE are going well. The biggest problem with WR is how to get more of them on the field. I think we have 2 capable QBs with a third only some experience behind.

We know our LB, safties and DL are excellent and no one doubts Youboty.

Sounds like kicking's going well (didn't hear about kickoffs or punting... maybe that's a good thing!)

Come on now, somebody step up at DE and CB and we're officially LOADED at every position!

The Pittman/Haw duel is great for each of them and great for the team as a whole. Evidently each showed he can run hard, get yards and hold on to the ball when called on.

Then, of course, there's the little speed-back who didn't play Sunday, the guy Bill Conley called one of the quickest players he's ever seen, the new Maurice. With two hard-running Big-Ten-caliber backs ahead of him in the rotation, it will be fun to see what he can do late in games when opposing defenders are weary and winded.

With all three O-line groups drawing praise from coaches and defenders, the running game seems to be shaping up nicely ...just the way it traditionally has at The Ohio State University. Is it too early to declare that the ground game is back!? I don't think so.

Per OSU Ticket Office around 20,000 tickets have been sold as of this morning.

Not sure how that compares to years past.

Last year they had a huge walk-up crowd. I expect we will still see a very strong crowd on Saturday, and plenty of walk-ups.

Weather -- looks from Friday - thru - Sunday extended info that we are in between 2 fronts. If front A moves through faster -- great weather. If front A moves through slower -- still great weather. Ergo, 1 in 3 chance of great weather on Saturday -- dang -- I'm as good as a real meteorologist.

- Huston was impressive kicking the ball (the one FG he missed hit the upright, not the crossbar)
According to the O-zone article you posted, BFS, Tress said the kick hit the upright and then the crossbar.

"I think he missed one from 50 that hit an upright and came down and hit the crossbar".

I wouldn't have been so picky, but that was from your own post.
