Spring Football - 2005 (mega-merge)

Lets see. There are 17,000 seats in the "new" permanent south stands. I believe that the south stands will be open only if enough tickets are sold. With our current capacity officially 101,600 roughly, that means only 84,600 seats will be available. That doesn't include the 2400 in box seats or 81 club sections. Will every ticket holder sit on only their designated number, I wouldn't if I were going to a spring game? In that case we could say for every ticket sold each person sits in 1 and 1/3 seat. If 50,000 tickets are sold the stadium would look like it is holding 66,500 people. Throw in the box seats and a good day and it would look like 67,800. That is my guess for saturday.

Hey, its a slow night at work.

Last year we had: 45,074 per http://ohiostatebuckeyes.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/042404aaa.html

This year is should exceed last year's figure, since everyone's expectations of this team is very high. Attendance could easily be in the 55,000 to 60,000 range. I'll predict:

57,057

Let's not forget about those false start penalties. Those are a great way to keep the clock running, as long as you plan on punting anyway, or if you can take the game clock all the way to zero using it. I can't believe they haven't changed that rule yet - as long as the play clock was running, you get two periods of the play clock running down for only 1 down. Great strategy for running out the clock in tight game-end situations, but I don't think JT does it on purpose

first time i noticed the false-start, clock-running thing was at the end of the second fiesta bowl. and i wonder then if it wasn't done on purpose to milik an extra 25 seconds off the clock. (then ross runs out of bounds. AAARRRGGG!!!) i'm a high school official, and we have the option of starting or not starting a clock if we think a team is trying to milk the clock unfairly. don't know what the college rule is.

if jt ever gets another reliable back (and i think pittman could be the one), i think we'll have a lot fewer ulcers at the end of games. the second fiesta bowl is a great example of his strategy. up 21 points after throwing 23 passes entering the fourth quarter. he throws one pass in the fourth quarter. the defense is playing great. jt probably figures kansas state will have four more possessions and will need three TDs to tie the game. if that means we get four more possessions and take 3 minutes off the clock on each possession, that means KSU has to score three TDs in three minutes. entering the fourth quarter, KSU no longer was jt's opponent. the clock is. can't say i'm always thrilled with the strategy (i like the big statistics). but it works.

p.s.: i don't mean to hijack this thread. so . . . jersey scrimmage.
