with Curt Evans

Hollywood (FL) Chaminade-Madonna athlete Curtric "Spiffy" Evans is the definition of a deep threat...he can score from almost anywhere on the field, whether it be from the WR spot or at RB. His coach, Tim Tyrell, who played for Coach Tressel at Youngstown State, has even compared Evans to another explosive talent who played his college ball in Florida...Joe Haden. But some college coaches see him as potentially the best defensive back to ever come out of Chaminade-Hollywood (a school that sent CB Demitri Beal to Cincinnati in the class of 2010, CB Akeem Auguste to South Carolina and S Eain Smith to West Virginia in 2007, S Jordan Delegal to NC State in 2006 and S Jon Beason to Miami in 2003...and that's just the DBs). Either way, he used his playmaking abilities (along with standout teammates Jerrard Randall and Jonathan Aiken) to help Chaminade-Madonna to a 12-1 record in 2009 and a state semifinal appearance...and as you will see he and his teammates are hungry for more. With an early offer list that includes the likes of Minnesota, Marshall, Stanford, Boston College, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Virginia and West Virginia, Evans obviously has some of the best upside of any WR in the state of Florida. Although being sidelined a portion of the offseason with a turf/broken toe, he is fully recovered and participating in 7-on-7 competitions. A standout in the classroom as well, Evans and his teammates have a busy spring planned with possible trips to Ohio State, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan and West Virginia on the horizon. Thanks to our friends at TheRinger, the BPRT was able to track Evans down for a Straight Six...

BPRT: When you think of Ohio State football, what comes to mind?

CE: Coach T.

BPRT: What college coaches and players keep your attention and why?

CE: The coaches that have my attention momentarily are Coach Z (Zach Azzanni) from Florida, the entire Vanderbilt coaching staff and coaches from Minnesota. On the player side I'd have to say Julio [Jones] from Alabama...well mostly the entire Alabama squad. And Joe Mcknight from USC, Percy Harvin and the Boise State Broncos.

BPRT:
You have one more year in your high school career...what goals have you set personally for this upcoming season?

CE: Next year, on the personal side, I wanna be ranked nationally in the top 100 and playing in the All-American games. But as a unit I wanna state title! That's it! A STATE TITLE! But I also...well we all want another underfeated season...but most of all we want that ring.

BPRT:
When your career is over, how would you like people to remember Curt Evans?

CE: When it's all said and done I wanna be remembered as the guy who played and had a great time playing the best sport ever. The guy kids watch film on and try to better themselves off not only on the field but also off it. I wanna be remebered as a role model.

BPRT:
If you were analyzing yourself on film, what would you list as your strengths and what needs some work?

CE: I watch film constantly...my coach always credits me about that aspect of my preperation and of my other strengths there's my quickness and being a downfield hassel for the defense. My footwork is good and getting better always as I work. But with ups are downs and I notice I tend to buckle my elbows but I've been working to better that.

BPRT: What are some of your favorite things to do away from football?

CE: My favorite things outside of football is hanging out at the beach not so much with my friends but alone just thinking. I love to read books and other items and I love to write but I love fishing, especially with my family. I love playing PS3 with my boys and having fun...guess I'm a typical 16 year old.

The BPRT especially likes the "spiffy" move Evans puts on three DBs at the end of the play that starts at the 1:01 mark...
