The BPRT has a special edition of The Straight Six as we delve into the world of high school wrestling for a few comments from mega-recruit, Logan Stieber. Just today, our friends at The Ozone (Story 1--Story2)ran two excellent features on the Sophomore who is already beating NCAA National qualifiers on his way to becoming the FILA Junior Freestyle National Champion. To put this in perspective, this commitment is being compared on the Oden-Pryor level for Coach Ryan's redhot up-and-coming wrestling program. His current resume' already includes three Junior High State Titles, two Cadet National Championships, two Ohio State High School championships, and the FILA Junior Freestyle National Championship. He is currently rated as the #1 wrestler in the Sophomore class...regardless of weight class. With all of the hype, the BPRT managed to corner Logan for another round of The Straight Six...
BPRT: When you think of The Ohio State University, what comes to mind?
LS: I think of winning and great tradition. I think of great people with a winning mindset and I think of being a Buckeye.
BPRT: Coach Ryan is obviously doing great things in Columbus. How would you describe him as a Coach and what attracted you to his style?
LS: He has done a great job wrestling and coaching wherever he has been. He gets his wrestlers to wrestle hard and they graduate 100% which was an important factor for me
BPRT: What are your personal goals in Columbus?
LS: I want to graduate with a 3.0 GPA or higher and help my team win National Championships along with myself winning national titles also.
BPRT: Who are some of you heroes in the sport? Who do you admire?
LS: I really have no heroes...but I admire what Erik and Scotty Burnett and Jeff Jordan for what they do. They all have families and they continue to help young and old wrestlers get better
BPRT: Describe yourself as a wrestler.
LS: I think of myself as the aggressor in the match. I try and push the action and score as fast as possible
BPRT: What are some things you like to do away from the mat?
LS: I play football in the fall. Also, I like to hang out with my friends on the weekend and play video games just like everyone else
The BPRT would like to thank Logan Stieber for taking time to complete The Straight Six. We are all looking forward to great things from him as he completes his high school career and heads to Columbus to bring home the National Championship.
