OK, so I have a Facebook page mostly to stay in touch with an old friend who got shipped off overseas (not military, but middle East). Now, I am getting barraged with these idiotic emails alerting me that I have a Farmville "gift" from someone, and asking me for "help" because other people "need" some sort of Farmville food, tool, or other nonsense.

Who thought up this inane pile of shit, anyway?

There's an arrow in the upper right hand corner of everything posted on your wall. When ever something this comes up you can click it and choose the "hide all posts about farmville" or whatever other annoying shit pops up. To stop the emails go into home and then account setting. On the left hand side of the page you'll see options for like general, notifiations, security...Go to notifications and disable email alerts. That should do it.

Either do all of this or just cancel your account. Email works great at keeping up with people when you feel like it.

Sadly this is not an option. The person who plays Farmville is the person I need to stay in touch with whom I cannot contact via email or other means. For, ah, political reasons.

Sounds strange, but it's fact. It's probably also the reason they play Farmville.
