Stupid two point conversions (SimpLLLLLe Jim loves 'em, and so does James Franklin)

Trailing in the 2nd quarter 14-6, Indiana scores a TD and - you guessed it - goes for two.

FAIL

14-12

Here's what "the card" should say for the first half of any game:

Just kick it, you idiot

You're not even supposed to look at the card until the 4th quarter!

Oklahoma scores midway thru the 4th quarter to close within 36-27 of Missouri and - you guessed it - they go for two. They fail, making it a two score game and deflating their team's hopes of pulling out a win. Kick the XP, and your boys know they still have a shot with one score. THAT is why you kick the damn thing, and ignore "the card" which does not consider what happens when you fail to convert.

Yup. I believe there was still over 6 minutes left and Oklahoma still had some time outs, maybe all 3, can't remember. Made no sense to go for the 2 pt conversion at that point...

This was one of the most mind-blowing 2-point conversion decisions I can remember.

Idiotic.

Bengals went for 2 in the 3rd quarter twice. They were down 11 and scored and tried to cut it to 3 but failed. Then they scored again down 5 and tried to go for to get up by 3 and failed.

had a 1 point lead, atlanta scores in the 4th and goes for 2 to go up 7 and converts.

NEVER GO FOR 2 IN THE 3RD QUARTER PEOPLE! WAY TOO MUCH FOOTBALL LEFT.

First play of the second quarter, Illinois scores to go up 12-7...and they go for two. Even against scUM's defense that's a stupid decision.

But again scUM's defense, it worked, 14-7.
So what you're saying is, few decisions are stupid enough to trump Michigan's defensive ineptitude.

Hard to argue with that.

Quack-quack!

Most of Oregon's attempts are because their coach is being a dick. This one was because they were chasing points in the 3rd quarter. Even Bret Bielema knows you don't even look at the card until the 4th quarter.

Yep, and by failing they essentially turned AZ's safety into a field goal.

Whoever put together "the card" is an idiot. Cracks me up hearing talking heads speak of it as though it was handed down by an omnipotent being, never to be questioned.

Fresno goes for two versus Illinois simply to get in the wonderful world of sevens and threes, fails, and keeps it a one score game in the 3rd quarter. Their lead is now 8, rather than 9. Once again, "the card" overlooks what happens when you fail, which occurs more than 50% of the time.

Pitt scores a TD to go up 12-7 over Notre Dame with over 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and they go for two. They fail, so their lead remains 5. Stupid.

Notre Dame scores with 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter, and because Pitt 's lead was only 5 instead of 6, the Irish go for two and make it a 3 point lead, 15-12. Why not? Pitt gave them a chance to make it a FG game and they took it.

Lane Kiffin did the same thing after taking a 22-21 lead in the third quarter. They ended up losing 43-22, so it didn't really hurt them.

I watched that game and also questioned the decision. Kick the XP to go up 13-7, and if ND kicks two FGs it's still a tie, but miss the conversion (which they did) and now ND can beat you with those two FGs.

Kiffin? He almost needs his own "stupid two point conversions" thread.
