NOLA locals: If you had 2 night before you had to leave New Orleans forever, where would you go to eat around the French Quarter?

Sad to say that I won't be joining any of you... as a matter of fact, I'll be flying in the opposite direction to Canada for a couple of days.

Be that as it may, I'll throw in my recos for food:

http://www.napoleonhouse.com/ I've not been here since Kratrina so I'm not sure how they're doing... but it was always great food. Still not sold on the Pim's Cup (house specialty drink), but others love it. If you don't go for the food, go for the history. Cool place.

http://www.palacecafe.com/ For my money this is the best food in NOLA. From the menu: Shrimp Tchefuncte In a Creole meuni?re sauce with green onions, roasted mushrooms and popcorn rice $17. I could eat this breakfast, lunch and dinner for about two months before complete arterial blockage would set in. If you facny yourself a cook, they have a great cookbook for sale too. Yummy!

http://www.redfishgrill.com/index.html is also pretty good. I have to say that I've never had anything but great food and service there, but something tells me that it's a little more on the tourist-trap side of the dial for my taste... but like I said, have never had anything but good food and service there.

Enjoy! Make sure that you walk everywhere... between the butter and stuff that you'll be shoveling into your pie-hole you'll thank me later.

:oh:

The Fox and Hounds bar is not in New Orleans. Wrong parish. It is 20-30 minutes out of town in the burbs.

I'd go to Ernst Cafe' to watch if you are ticketless...and if you are, then

Someone who doesn't want to be mentioned in this thread is pretty freaking awesome.

Our generous friend has 2 tickets available in Section 625 Row 7, and would like to have the money from the purchase of those tickets go to BuckeyePlanet.

If you would like the tickets, please send me a Private Message with your bid (or feel free to post it here if you don't mind it being public). The highest bid as the end of the day on the 29th will get the tickets, with a random-drawing tiebreaker if needed. You'll make the payment to BP, and I'll connect you with the donor to exchange contact information so you can arrange transfer of the tickets. You'll be in the same row at the game, so you'll probably meet up that morning. It's someone fantastic, so that is an additional benefit. :)

I am in section 622. hopeful that I am surrounded by buckeye fans since its my wife's first Buckeye game. Also staying at the Renaissance looking for tailgating close by and suggestions??:oh:
Ernst Cafe is one block toward the river, one block toward Poydras from your place. It was the Buckeye watering hole for the 07 game, and they are hosting the S&G Hoard again.

I'll probably be doing the Varsity Club South thing for at least a good portion of the day on Tuesday.

It's close enough now that those of us who are going should try to decide upon a place and time for a BP meet and drink. I'll have a device with me so I can log in to see what's decided. I'll be in NO about 5:30 PM tomorrow.

I am flying out tonight with my son (he's 23 so he can consume some adult beverages. Tomorrow night seems like a good time to meet. Perhaps Gator can recommend and host a get together.....:pirate1:

Still looking for a BP get together down here. Would love to meet some fellow BP'ers at the Sugar Bowl. Gator, you recommend the heart stopper at Something Else Cafe? Tried to go to Napolean House today but it's closed Sundays. Haha

If anyone hasn't had it yet, I recommend the Abita Amber Lager.
