summer time activities

High Lonesome

Hook 'Em
This weekend will mark the first time that I get to go down to austin and engage in some of my favorite summertime activities. One of the most popular things to do(and the reason for my trip this weekend) if floating the Guadalupe river. People tend to be skepticle of this idea but I have a couple of friends that were outof state students that were blown away when we took them on their first river trip. We all pack up a couple of coolers of beer and head out on our innertubes and float and drink the day away. It is truely a great time to be had by all. Later in the summer i am going to south padre, which while not the white sand beaches of florida, is still a great party. Thinking about this weekend left me wondering, Are there any summer time activities in Ohio that you specificly look forward to every year or something that outsiders look at and say, "thats fun to you?"

High Lonesome,

That sounds like a BLAST!! You can just use the bathroom any time you need and not have to get up.

You couldn't get away with that shit up here.

I can't think of anything off hand here in Ohio that we may do for fun that you may not understand except for maybe snipe hunting.

Honestly, if you were to designate Ohio for any particular summertime activity that can't be found anywhere else, I'd say it's for the amusement parks. Between Cedar Point (Sandusky -- northern OH) and Kings Island (near Cincinnati -- southern OH), you have two of the most recognized amusement parks in the world that combined hold 5 or 6 of the 10 best roller coasters ever built. The fact that both parks are in Ohio, and about a four hour drive from one another, have kept the two in an endless game of one-upmanship since the early 80s.

If you toured the parking lot at either park, more than half the license plates are out-of-state.

I agree - Cedar Point had been named the best theme park in North America several times.

Also got some nice lakes over toward my direction, Seneca, Salt Fork, Tappan, for sport, or fishing, etc. That's where I spend most of my summer.

IE Michigan............ :wink2:

I grew up in Norwalk, which is 15 minutes south of Sandusky, and always had season passes to Cedar Point. When the summer season hit, we stayed out of Sandusky for the most part, because it became infiltrated with thousands of shitty Michigan drivers........talk about your ultimate nightmare.

High Lonesome,

That sounds like a kick ass time bro, serious chillin going on there. Now if you can only find a way to get a floating tune box to serenade you with some jams on your way down the river, you'd be in there.

I wish that I could tell you of something cool here in Ohio during the summer. Usually I'll try to party up on the Lake Erie islands at least once during the year, Put In Bay is quite insane in the summer. Other than that, I vieiw summer as the eve to the start of OSU football season.

We will get a late start on planting our deer lease food plots.
We have a big party this weekend and will work a couple of weekends getting the place ready for the season.

It is definitely a Southern thing.

I guess I could add that the most popular vacation destination for Ohioans is Myrtle Beach, SC, if that tells you anything. Hence why Myrtle Beach is dubbed, "The Redneck Riviera."

I thought it was "Biker's Beach"

I personally have a great summer if I am able to get outside and enjoy it with my family. There is nothing better than sitting around in the summer with the grill fired up, shooting the breeze with friends and family.

Other well known things to do in Ohio during the summer is trekking the hills at Old Man's Cave and camping out close to Lake Logan.

actually many people have found ways to put stereo systems into coolers, they use marine speakers for boates and treat the cooler as a box. Inside the cooler you have a marine batery and then you mount the face and the speakers on the lid. A seprate tube is rented for the cooler and then it is tied to someone elses toob as if it was filled with beer. Its somewhat of an investment but easy to do if you have multiple friends that can all chip in.

here is a link to where i will be going

each time you open it a different picture comes up, it is easy to tell which one is what i will be doing

Definitely. When I was bartending, I met different Ohio people every night of the summer.

My summer starting next thursday at 3:17 pm:

May--a few days of rest and relaxation

June--Weightroom supervision, Extended School Year for 4 weeks, Passing League practice, one day camps all over the South.

July--Passing League, FCA Camp at Coastal Carolina, Football Camp at Lake Marion, wedding in Cbus
