Columbus (OH) St. Francis DeSales

Height: 6-foot-4.5
Weight: 245 lbs.

The Columbus Dispatch : DeSales 20, Watterson 17: Stallions make early lead stand up against Eagles

11/1/08

DeSales scored three touchdowns in the first half, including receptions in the back of the end zone by tight end Chris Rock and receiver Ike Ariguzo, and held off Watterson 20-17 in front of a crowd of more than 5,000 in Alumni Stadium.

A close game didn't look to be a possibility after Rock caught a 20-yard touchdown pass with two defensive backs all over him, Sal Carfagna ran 2 yards for a touchdown and Ariguzo took the ball away from a defender in the corner of the end zone for a 12-yard touchdown catch.

"Ike and Chris stepped up for this game," DeSales quarterback Thomas Gentile said. "They made me look good. They have such soft hands and they are such playmakers."

Scout.com: North Recruiting Notebook

Super Sophomore Chris Rock played a key role in Columbus (Ohio) DeSales first round victory over Columbus Watterson 20-17. Rock who many considered to be one of Ohio's top prospects in the Class of 2011 scored on a touchdown with two Watterson defenders giving tight coverage. Rock has the size (6-foot-4.5, 245-pounds) and physical abilities to be a national recruit. Several programs including Ohio State are looking at Rock early.

Ok. I've got my control back...

Great size for a TE. Right in our backyard. Would be a nice change of pace from Fragel. Anybody know his 40?

From his Scout bio:

Chris Rock is a player to keep an eye on. As a sophomore he projects as a TE/DE but he's got the physical build to become a OT/DT in the coming years. Very good player who will have played and started at the varsity level for four seasons.

He transferred from Thomas Worthington before this year. I went to elementary school with him, although I'm two years older than him, and used to play basketball with him every day when I was in 6th grade and he was in 4th.

He's a really nice kid and I would be really happy if he got national attention, and it sounds like he already is.

Columbus (Ohio) DeSales defeated New Albany 13-6 tonight at New Albany.

Junior defensive lineman Chris Rock had an excellent game including a game clinching interception. New Albany was driving for the potential game tieing touchdown late in the game when Rock intercepted a pass. The interception came with less than three minutes to go in the game and sealed the victory for the Stallions.

The 6-foot-5 and 250-pound Rock has a number of scholarship offers including Notre Dame, Michigan, Pitt and Cincinnati.

Rock is expected to be in the Horseshoe on Saturday night for the OSU-USC game, and it may not be long until the Bucks offer.

He definitely will gain weight, so Chris strikes me as a solid a 3-4 DE. A lot like Garrett Goebel's or Rob Rose's measureables. We will still need a big NT though behind Simon though in the 2011 class. 4, maybe 5, DL in the class seems right.

From the Cincinnati site...talks about wanting to visit UC for a game and the fact that despite the fact he grew up an OSU fan now he is looking at colleges from the aspect of which is the best fit.
