TE Jake Stoneburner (Official Thread)

At the camp meet-and-greet today, JT introduced Terelle Pryor to Stoneburner (and Posey) and said, "These are your future wideouts." I guess we can put any talk about him playing TE on the back burner...

So I was right about guessing that Jake will play WR, that Rob Rose will stay at DE, that Mike Zordich looked better on film than Beachum when everyone thought Beachum's offer was in the mail...what else am I missing here?

Don't break that arm when you bend it 90 degrees to pat yourself on the back.

ahh...I am just messing w/ you TB. Good call by you on all accts.

Now where's that cookie recipe that was in Garrett Goebel's thread?

Stoney would have to fill out a ton to be a Big 10 TE.

It seems Soneburner can create the match up problems that Josh Chichester could have done here. Are these similar types of receivers, or is the only thing they have in common is that they're taller than the average wideout?

Similar but don't get it twisted...Stoney has freakish athleticism and speed for his size. Chichester is all arms and legs and will rely on his size fo get open. Chichester is much taller and not nearly as fast (Chichester is around 6-8 and runs around a 4.7...Stoney is almost 6-5 and ran a 4.46). Their frames are much different.

Chichester was lanky and lean. Stoneburner is more muscular. I'd guess that right now, even after going to prep school, that Stoneburner weighs more than Chichester.

Chichester is actually a touch heavier than Stoneburner if you compare the two right now...Josh has put on almost 20 pounds since leaving high school and is up to around 230. Stoney is listed at around 225 right now.

So I was a little off...:) Jake will probably be up to 240 though by the end of his freshman year I imagine(it seems every freshman gain at least 10-15 pounds). Still though, that's 230 over a 6'8" frame compared to 225 over a 6'5" frame.
