TenneCheat VolunTears (but..but..but.. we're good at baseball)

What would be your top four rivals, if you have four?

We have Georgia, FSU, Tennessee (although them losing 12 out of the last 13 to gata is impacting that), and our every year west opponent LSU. And if we played Miami on the reg, they would bump Tennessee as the third.

Auburn was a big rival, but we lost them in the reorg.

We have one rival.

Lots of teams come and go that are good enough to beat us or be a tough game for a while. We likely hate the motherfuckers. They are not a rival.

There is only one team, one school and one state that I wish nothing but unending misery, pain and suffering on no matter how good or bad their football team is and no matter how long they are that way.

Best litmus test for true rival = do you still hate the air the cocksmacks children breathe when they are 6-5 every year for a decade?

Play folks you despise long enough, and you get a rival. ( I'm not sure how many beer cans thrown at Buckeys fans it took to get Penn State to that spot - if they are in that spot).

But then, I admit that Tennessee was not a rival until they became our every year East opponent. Things got real quickly with the OBC and Fulmer at the helms.
THEY ARE NOT OUR FUCKING RIVALS AND I'M ABOUT TO FUCK SOMEBODY UP IF THIS SHIT DOESN'T STOP THIS WEEK

Nobody really touches Michigan.

There's a fair amount of hatred for Notre Dame and Miami -- both of which are frequently likened to Michigan in one way or another.

The MSU game has become a divisional rivalry in an NFL sense. They've upset our plans twice now. I'd say they picked up where Wisconsin used to be ~5 years ago for us. But that will fade as soon as Dantonio can't keep up the 10win seasons.

You may also notice all of these things are spun through the lens of The Rivalry.
Notre Dame is scUM part II.
Miami is scUM South.
MSU is Whole State of Michigan.

Had PSU surpassed MSU and Bucky and Purdue, they might be in the conversation for the heresy of having a second rival. They have not done that and instead are like those other teams that were brief disturbances.

Yes, Purdue. They beat OSU 4x from 2000-2011, the same as PSU in that span (PSU had 2 more opportunities).

PSU has beaten OSU once since 2011, and they yanked an OL out of the way to avoid the same leaping penalty that they had in their previous OSU @ PSU matchup.

PSU has beaten OSU twice since 2008 and the other one was during the 7 loss Fickell year.

PSU has not caught Sparty on the field in the race to be a relevant thorn that isn't a rival.

Notre Dame would be the one team that could threaten the monogamy of the rivalry between UM-OSU. They could not eclipse it, and it would take them joining the conference and ruining a lot of weekends for decades on end, but they might get some validation as a second rival.

PSU will remain an unrequited rival.
