Attention Roy and whoever else wants to read.

I would've posted had we won, so what the heck. I've seen blame on everything from orange pants to Dustin Colquitt. Arian had a bad fumble....a good game, but a bad fumble. No excuses. It can't happen and it shouldn't. What would you like me to say?

Roy?

What would you like Arian to say to you? While you lure former athletes to your home with food and drink and God knows what else? While you sit there and offer $100 handshakes to anyone who will pay any attention to you? While you spread gossip like an old fat bat at the beauty shop? What would you like my son to tell you?

How about I tell you something instead. I'm grateful that he doesn't look for fools like you. I'm grateful that he stays far far away from crud and filth and people who have nothing better to do in life than to mire in other peoples business. I'm grateful that he can get up tomorrow and still look a fine man in the mirror. And I'm grateful that no matter what he does on the field or in life, he'll be a far better character than you will ever be.

Money doesn't buy you intelligence, it doesn't even buy you love. But I guess in Memphis, it sure as hell buys you a crowd at your house for a football game. I'd gladly be poor all my life than to wind up like you.

And I don't care if I get banned. You, Roy Adams, can kiss my ass.

This was NOT a team loss; this was a loss caused by two

individuals, whose names I don't want to post. Carlton Peeples, Jarron Parrish, and a half dozen other former UT players were in attendance tonight at our football party and the consensus was:

If, If, a running back who has caused us to lose 2 games in his career didn't fumble, we would have won.

If, If, we didn't have such a poor, ineffective, qb, we would have won. A debate develolped as to how far back to we go to observe such a poor, ineffective, qb. in UT's history. Alatore's name was mentioned, someone else said Joey Matthews, another Mountain Values person.

I'm amused about all the feel good terms, this team has an attitude, the guys in Los Angeles have their act together, etc. all of which we have all followed and believed each and every year I can remember.

I thought before tonight that we would go 8-4, 9-3, now I'm convinced we are the 6th best team in the SEC, behind, Alabama, UF, Uga, LSU, Auburn. A 7-5 record is more than likely. I hope I am wrong. UCLA with basically this same team got their former coach fired; tonight they won a nationally televised, entertaining, exciting, college football classic with their 3rd team qb, a new staff, and a new system. They whipped us fair and square!!

So, about those $100 handshakes...

Roy Adams:
UT grad and former alumni association president. ... Served as Paul Revere of the booster effort churning out updates and "street talk" on a popular Tennessee football Web site. ... Famous for Saturday football parties that draw eclectic mix of coaches, players and fans -- and tons of gossip.

Re: This was NOT a team loss; this was a loss caused by two

The lady is correct; Jarrod Parris, while leaving, with a most beautibul lady from Covington, was asked by some others how many tattos did he have. He replied proudly "none", I'm not a thug. I gave him a $100 bill, as I have most every other Div 1 athlete who's at my home and I'm told doesn't have a tatoo. Mr. Williams, Dan's father, was here tonight and when someone queatined whether his son didn't have a tatoo, Mr. Williams, who's a USPO employee, said "that's right. His Mom told him he'd better not ever get a tatoo and I'm proud to say, he doesn't". Scores of lawyers, judges, business people were around and several said "that's great; if he doesn't make it in the NFL, make sure he calls me." I've given approx $1,000 in 100 bills lately, several to UT, for first rate, first class, individuals, who don't have tattos. Not all individuals with tattos are thugs, but ALL criminals, thugs, have tatoos! Not all mothers are as influential, as close to their son, influential with their son, as evidently, Mrs. Williams is with Dan! God Bless Mrs. and Mr. Williams.
Someone has a huge ego that needs to be fed.

It's a good thing methomps copied the two posts to here, because they're gone from Scout.

That site has become far more interesting since SI jumped on the story though!

Re: SI.com - Tennessee Message-board Venom
Rising early to read the papers and watch Imus and Good Morning Joe, my 150 # Bull Mastiff, Deuce, barks, notifying me someone has approached our house. I look out the window and see a Memphis police car; fear enters my mind. They've sent a police car to get me for posting my opinions on Gridscape. But as I approach the front door, I recognize an ex U of Memphis football player friend and feel relieved-I'm not going to be arrested and any sign of a police car or a policeman in Memphis near you means the the tatooed criminals and thugs aren't going to attack you. This policemen who works in the East Precinct on Mt. Moriah, next to the now closed Platinum Plus, says he has to go to court so he'd rather drive the taxpayer paid car with gas than drive his own vehicle. This college graduate, ex football player, has learned the market economy well. While it's good to have police friends on Mt. Moriah to stop by, the ladies from Platinum Plus who would come over for breaks, were more entertaining and interesting, especially after I just had to listen to my friend attack Mrs. Palin as not qualified to be veep!
And as far a getting pub for Inside Tennessee, Scout, someone has to take a hit for the team every now and then. Far too many folks think the only Tennessee board now is Brent Hubbs, VQ, unfortunately. And I'm not knocking VQ!
And I promise not to fumble my next post.

BartowVOL wrote: If players parents don't like criticism of their precious babies, then they shouldn't hang out on fan message boards.

This is precisely why I do post. Why shouldn't we post? Because then you and others have to hear about it? How do you think we feel? Oh, I'm sorry....clearly our thoughts on this subject are not the issue. The issue is YOUR thoughts and feelings cause it's all about you. You may come on a board for the sake of "discussion", rip Arian, rip Jon, rip Daniel Lincoln or anyone you'd like to and you don't want to be told not to. You don't want to be held accountable. We, on the other hand, are expected to take it, not respond and even so much as not be allowed on a board. GMAB. Say anything you want mister. Really. But by God, be prepared for a response. It's a very sharp knife and it cuts both ways.

IMO, everything in the program right now deserves criticism, including the many players (not just one or two) who made boneheaded plays on Monday night. The one thing however that deserves far more criticism than any other however is the coaching. Our coaching is atrocious and has been for years now. Especially our head coach and defensive coordinator.

I would agree with all of that, and I have no beef with criticism of any kind. Criticism is not the same as most of what's been going on. That's the part most don't understand.

I also don't buy the argument that players don't get paid. These players are getting paid a huge amount. First, they are getting a free college education worth tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of thousands in benefits over the course of a lifetime. Additionally, they are getting pampered with all kinds of special perks that average college students don't get, such as opportunities to travel, use of unbelievable facilities, special food, special academic help, etc. etc.

They are college kids getting a "free" education. If you actually knew the truth, you'd know it ain't free. They get room and board and tuition. Nothing else. What benefits are you talking about??? Pampered with "all kinds of special perks that average college student don't get" ? Are you serious? That's almost funny if it weren't kinda sad cause I realize that that's how things are perceived. And yet, I have to send money to my son so that he can put gas in his car, do his laundry, buy a suit and eat. Yes they get food at Gibbs. Special food? Hardly. I've eaten the same table they get. Special food? HA! Special academic help? They get tutors and advisors which, by the way, EVERY student can get. How do I know? Cause I work at a university that supplies the same things for it's athletes and regular students.

All of the coaches salaries and players benefits, are being paid for by us the fans and taxpayers. Therefore, IMO, if we don't like the product that we are getting for our money, then we have an absolute right to speak up and say so. IMO, if coaches or players or their respective families don't like that, then that just too bad. If you can't handle the criticism, then get out of the football business, period.
Again, what are these player's benefits that you are paying for? With a football budget that covers damn near every other sport at UT, what are fans and taxpayers paying for? Well, salaries yes. The university, yes. And yes, scholarships. But if you're that mad about the "product on the field", then man up and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT OTHER THAN COMPLAIN AND WHINE ON A A MESSAGE BOARD. Call Mike Hamilton. Call the KNS and take out an ad. Hell, they'd probably pay for it. Call your state representative, your senator, your mayor, your governor. Call the Thorntons, the Haslems or call Coach Fulmer, call the UT president and call anyone who will listen. Because if this is your only recourse, then it makes you look silly and weak.

Giving players money, Blaming Single Players, and by the look of it from his head shot he's been gorging himself on Memphis dry ribs... Looks like we've got a possible candidate for the Charlie Weis Sportsman of the year award.
