The 2006 PGA Championship--Official Thread

Not really.

Gotta love it. I have one guy saying I'm not varied in my hatred of Tiger and one guy saying I'm too opinionated about it. The big shocking trend......Browns fans!

Actually, you have one guy wondering why you care about Tiger Woods if you don't care for golf anyway?

But hey, to each his own. I feel privileged to watch Tiger Woods play. And I appreciate his intensity on the course. Maybe if some of the other players shared the same focus and competitiveness, they'd come with 4 strokes of him.

i tried my ass off as a kid to make it on tour and didn't (obviously). i am jealous of everyone on tour, extemely jealous in fact. by your definition, i should then be a hater of everyone on tour. however, there are only a few that i don't care for. tiger happens to be one of them. just becuase someone doesn't like an athlete doesn't mean they are jealous of them.

I don't care about him, I just don't like him. Why is this so hard to understand? You can have a discussion about somebody without caring about them.

BN27,

Have you ever even played golf to realize how extremely difficult it is to master?

Because my guess is that Tiger has more talent on his toilet paper after taking a dump than you have in your entire swelled body.

Jesus Christ, this is getting ridiculous.

See the post I made where I said he's damn good? I admit that. I also admit he's an asshole and I don't like him. Guess what. That's a personal opinion I hold about the guy. Deal with it.

And yes I suck ass at golf.

I'm just sick of the rest of the field taking a collective piss down their legs and handing these wins to Tiger. It's not like Tiger went super low yesterday. It's not like he played some "perfect round" or mistake free...Any one of the big names out there are talented enough to go lower, but they never do on Sundays...As someone said earlier, there is no one pushing Tiger at all like Jack used to get pushed...

EDIT: I better add this...I don't care one way or the other about Tiger. But it's boring to watch everyone fall apart and have a runaway winner IMO...

He didn't go lower because he didn't have to. He played it safe from 14-18. Had someone been within two strokes of him, he doesn't play away from trouble on the par 3 that he bogeyed or lag every put he took. FYI he shot -4 which was the third best score posted for the day. I would characterize that as mistake free. 1 Bogey on Sunday when you are playing away from a lake is about as mistake free as it gets.

My point was more that he didn't go out and do a Johnny Miller 63 or anything. He shot 68. Hell, there were guys shooting 4 under on just the front side all week long. Now, I understand about the Sunday pin placements and all that, but you have to admit, the field just plain shit their pants in this one, when the course was ready to give up some birdies. I will concede that Tiger played conservatively and very well could have flipped the switch if he thought he needed to, but no one in that field even made a half-assed run at him...

Eh, it doesn't mean much to me besides wanting to see a walk up the 18th with a little drama...
