The Death of High School Wrestling

When I was in high school we stunk in football and basketball, but our wrestling team kicked ass. We sent guys to State every year and the crowds at the matches were insane.

I played football and hoops, but if I had to go through one of our wrestling practices I would've puked my guts out. Then there were the three days of fasting to make weight - those guys were dedicated as hell.

Yeah wrestlers sure are gay.....normally you'd think that kind of talk would be done when you're out of high school...apparently not.

At the HS I coach at we are seeing our biggest team in a decade or more, being nearly two deep at every weight class. Our district and team is full of kids who don't want to work, are lazy or just out there because mom is making me. So its a tough task catering to so many egos, but they're a solid group of kids. I also think the lack of collegiate funding due to Title IX is killing HS wrestling some, less schollie money, less desire to dedicate yourself to something that may not pay off in the end.

The claims of "it's gay" come from that odd convergence of fat bodies who were too lazy to wrestle and who secretly yearn for cock from within their dark closet.

[/URL]The University of Minnesota Golden Gopher wrestlers hosted Oklahoma State Wednesday night at the Sports Pavilion. The Gophers won 21-15.

It is the ninth straight time the teams have met with the number one team on the mat.

In addition to the Gophers and the Cowboys, the Seals were also at the meet, as in the Navy Seals.
But what do they have to do with wrestling?

A large reason why the Seals recruit from the Gopher wrestling program is because head coach J Robinson had been in the armed forces before. He said the Seals have too many recruits that are failing to become Seals because they are recruiting the wrong people.

"The difference between a wrestler and every other athlete is he lives it 24 hours a day," Robinson said.

So the Seals showed up at a recent practice to recruit.

"They more than have what it takes mentally," said Navy Seal Darek Laviolett. "Wrestlers, tenacious heart, unbelievable spirit."
