The 'explain your avatar' thread

I'm the commander of an original Tuskegee Airmen squadron. This was once only a all black squadron. The Tuskegee Airman were the first black pilots to fly and fight in WWII. Trained in Tuskegee, Alabama they flew the mighty P-51 Mustangs. Their assignment, under the direction of General Benajamin Davis, was to escort the bombers to their targets and home. According to Mr. Hiram Mann, an original Tuskegee Airman, Gen Davis ordered us to never break formation with the bombers to chase an enemy fighter, and any pilot who did, would be dealt with appropriately by the General himself. To the credit of Gen Davis leadership and the awesome fighting abilities of the Tuskegee Airman not a single bomber was ever lost while under their escort. A feat no other unit can claim. There were four Tuskegee squadrons the 99th Fighter Squadron, 100th Fighter Squadron, and the 301st and 302nd Fighter Squadron's. The Tuskegee trademark of then and now is the Red Tailed planes

Here, let me help jwinslow, since djtidebuck does not seem to be understanding you.

djtide: you do not have an avitar. imbrutus is not in charge of your avitar because you do not have one. imbrutus is in charge of your avAtar.
Avi is an acceptable ABBREVIATION but when spelled out it is avAtar.

An avatar (abbreviations include AV, ava, avie, avy, avi, avvie, and avvy) is an Internet user's representation of himself or herself, whether in the form of a three-dimensional model used in computer games, a two-dimensional icon (picture) used on Internet forums and other communities, or a text construct found on early systems such as MUDs. The term "avatar" can also refer to the personality connected with the screen name, or handle, of an Internet user.

Spelling Nazi to the rescue!

Class dismissed.
Isn't that the pic from the SI that talked about Doss returning to school for his senior year?
Perhaps. (Thanks!) I'll shoot them an email and see if they know where to find a copy. I've received numerous PMs, and would like one myself too.
