06 is about the only game anyone should have stormed with the traditions these teams have, IMO.
OSU isn't storming the field because of the win, but because of the rivalry.

They aren't storming the court like against Illinois BBall in 05. It isn't a 'stop the presses' moment that will captivate sportscenter viewers.

They are celebrating beating Michigan and a successful season. That holds true in 04 also.

In my opinion, Richrod hasn't ruined a rivalry, but he has ruined a fan base.

How can you ruin something composed entirely of arrogant-for-no-discernible-reason douchebags?

I feel sick to death that this is the last time The Game will be the final game of the regular season slate. This is one of the few times I'm furious at the OSU brass. I still can't believe that concession was made.

Huh? It's still the final game of the regular season.

Ummmm...

What Telekinesis said.

Unless you're counting the Conference Championship Game as a regular season game.

The Game will always be bigger to me anyway.

And bear in mind that if there were a CCG this year, Ohio State would not be going (Wisconsin would be the winner of our division). Neither would the Buckeyes have gone in 2008 or 2005.

Six-in-a-row is something to be proud of. It's only happened twice in conference history, both times by the Buckeyes. But it's an accomplishment that just got a great deal harder; not because of how hard the CCG will be, but because by the criteria in place the Buckeyes would not have even made it that far in half of the past 6 years.

Bizarre. I don't know how I missed the decision to keep it at the end of the year. I distinctly recall reading on here, maybe end of August, that it would be moved along with the division split so as to avoid the prospect of Michigan-OSU two weeks in a row. I have no idea how I got that memory. Thanks for the clarification, guys.

Yup. Not only did they decide to throw Ohio State and Michigan into separate divisions, they decided to keep The Game at the end of the season. You'd think if they were gonna fuck the fans they'd fuck us all the way, but in the vein of some twisted act of mercy the powers that be only fucked us halfway, leaving that taste in our mouths but making for damn sure that there's a possibility for a supreme shitstorm down the road when both Ohio State and Michigan are division winners.

Now, I wasn't as adamantly against the split as some on these boards but, as you can tell, I'm not entirely thrilled with the prospect of watching The Game then watching The Game Pt. Deux 2 weeks later. Eventually it WILL happen and when it does, I only hope I'm wrong about how awful it will be.

I wouldn't hold my breath at this point lol

All told we could have new teams and new divisions by the time Michigan gets around to making conference title games again (Not to mention its actually a decently rare occurrence to see rematches in conference title games)

My 21 year old son and I flew in on Friday afternoon, rushed to the Schott to see the bball game with a good friend, went down to the skull session, saw The Game from great seats, beers and dinner at Eddie Georges on Sat night. A perfect weekend, one I will never forget.
