The Links (Campbell thread split)

In case you've just crawled from under a rock, it is--and always has been--BP's policy to provide source links for updates.

Don't be "that guy", oh wait you are that guy.

And actually things have been changing at BP and evolving with modern times. I know Clarity has even mentioned the realization that times are changing with twitter and social media.

Spare me the "evolving with modern times" drivel. We've always included links to the source for two reasons:
1.) To show that the person making the post isn't making unsupported claims, and
2.) As a courtesy to others so they don't have to go search for the info the poster is claiming

That's rich, coming from a guy who's made a name for himself around here for berating people who haven't performed a 3-second Google search before asking a question.
Why am I not surprised that you can't see the huge difference between someone asking a question without first looking for the answer him/herself because he/she is too lazy, and providing a link to the source that caused him/her to make a post in the first place.

And we STILL link, the dinosaurs that we are. We have our reasons for doing so, so do it.

3.) And to give the site breaking the story the web hits, especially if it is another Buckeye site.

That is complete and utter BS, and hypocritical. I can say many of the "mods" of this site who I have the utmost respect for, and go back over 10 years with most, don't link... and they are NOT any type of insiders with their own sources, and roam the same twitterverse and other premium sites to get their info. So be consistent if you are quoting "supposed reasons". And use sense, I think we all know rules are in place to make sure things are on the up and up. If you have someone that has been a contributing member of this board for over 10 years and the Buckeye community for longer, with never an issue of bringing "Unsupported claims", use some sense.

There is a big double standard and lack of sensibility.

I think it was definitely worth involving this many people in a verbose, heated slapfight rather than just posting a link.

Do links always get posted? No, but that does not change the policy.

It is the exact same thing when someone says they've heard this about recruit x, uniform color alpha or future opponent Rocky. We want a source so we know the credibility of it, where to go for more details and to provide the outlet with the glut of the hits.

Maybe it's because the rules--according to you, of course--change when it's you who is "too lazy" (your words) to check, I don't know, maybe the biggest sports website on the planet, before asking for a link?
