The Ohio State Baseball (Official Thread)

I posted this last June. It is just as true today.

Some notes on Beals career stats at OSU

Ohio State Record: 303-238-1
Big Ten Record: 111-105
Big Ten Tournament Record: 15-14
NCAA Tournament Record: 2-6
Overall NCAA Tournament Record: 3-8

Ohio State quality?

I mean, if his overall record winning pct matched his NCAA tournament winning pct, then they might be motivated to do something. But I can almost hear Smith saying "303-238-1, that's good, right?

Cooper had a great overall record too. It all comes down to performance vs expectations.

Lol “great”. It’s .560. It’s the equivalent of going 8-6 every year. Cooper’s issue was beating dUMb and winning his bowl game. He beat up the rest of the schedule

Would Beals last with that win percentage as football coach?
Football coaches are in danger below 1.00. Baseball coaches…well it just depends on what the school expects.

expectations cant be that low can they?? we arent even a top 5 program in our own conference....and our conference in the College Baseball landscape aint even top 5. Ohio produces enough talent that B1G championships, making the tourney every year and then the occasional run at a super regional should be the expectation. not simply going .500 in the College Baseball equivalent of the MAC in football

Jax and mania are both correct. Beals seems to be meeting expectations here. He isn't the real problem, the expectations are.

I guarantee he wouldn't have lasted this long at Texas, Florida, or LSU. Correct me if I'm wrong @Nutriaitch
I’m not pro-Beals but this seems like specious logic at best.
Like Purdue or Minnesota comparing themselves to OSU in football.
The baseball comparisons should be to other B1G or MW schools.
Then understanding why we lag.
I can’t think of a legit reason why Kent has a consistently better program.

I agree. Forget the baseball powerhouses but why can ND, Kent and Wright State be better at baseball?

Best of the midwest approach is reasonable imo. Competent sometimes very good...something like that.

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm not expecting OSU to suddenly be Texas or USC or LSU. But for fuck's sake OSU is something like the 4th or 5th best program in Ohio. That is un-fucking-acceptable. I don't give a damn if it's tiddlywinks, OSU should not be behind Wright Fucking State in anything. Minny and dUMb somehow manage to be competitive, why not OSU? THAT is what I'm saying.

This program is nowhere near MAC level in regards to baseball. They are below that.

We’re on the same page then.
I was confused with the comparisons to southern elites.
