Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

Damn! Inside look (and taste) as good as the outside does?
Yes, its delicious. Next loaf I bake I'll post a picture of the crumb. I still have a long way to go before I feel like a pro, but I've been doing this off and on for 10-12 years.

I usually go for a denser bread because I only eat it as grilled cheese, toast, or with stews. It also is great with manchego, jamón iberico and a stiff Tempranillo.

Cool. I added a few other options as well.

But if you want some Louisiana style food, Palmetto's is what I'd check out.

When you pass by let us know what you have!

Also the gulf fish almondine is another dish I'd recommend. Had to double check to see if it was on their lunch menu and according to the site, it is available at lunch too.

We did stop at Palmettos this afternoon. Split the boudin balls, the roast beef po boy, and shrimp dumplings topped with étoufée. And a little bag of Zapp’s mesquite BBQ chips.

The po boy was ridiculously good. Same for the shrimp dumplings, although étoufée will never be my favorite thing. The boudin balls were fine, but too rich for my taste. Between being fried, full of cheese, and coming with the cream sauce, oof…..

Glad that you were able to check it out and, it sounds like, you (mostly) enjoyed it!

I’m glad we could too! It ended up being about halfway through 10 hours of driving, so the location was perfect for a stop. My wife may swear off all chips that aren’t Zapps from now on!

Thanks so much for the recommendation — beat the hell out of eating the carrots and celery we packed in the car. :slappy:
