Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

Not so fast my friend.

Let's say we get to 10 coaches and everyone remains with Wilson added and he calls the plays. Then what say you? I think Urb would trust Wilson fully and hand over control which is not what happened in '15 and '16. I think Urban gives Wilson more control than any OC he has ever had. If that happens you can't say Beck leaving was sole reason for improvement.

The 2015 offense struggled early on against some awful competition. That's what forced Urban to micromanage his coordinators. The JT switch got things humming again, but really it just hid the symptoms by giving Beck a real read option threat. That was something he also always had at Nebraska, and there it also helped mask pretty mediocre QB play.

Not sure if this is a Beck post or a Herman post, so it's both.

Herman responded to the criticism by saying, "I talked to two people I love and trust, and those two people are J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones, and they think the world of him (Beck). I talked to Urban Meyer, and Urban Meyer thinks the world of him. Tim Beck was extremely successful when he was a playcaller at Nebraska," Herman told Olson. "So again, chalk that one up to a lot of miscommunication on social media and, again, we'll never be swayed by any of that because we're privy to a lot more information than what Joe Fan is."

I think tOSU was fully expecting to beat Clemson, and that the coaches were okay. But the shutout opened everyone's eyes.
I don't believe that that is the case. Rumors of Meyer speaking to Wilson leaked the week of Christmas. I have a feeling Urban was laying the groundwork right there. Add in the fact that Beck ended up with Tom Herman so quickly, apparently after talking to Urban, and this seems like something that has been in the works well before the Fiesta Bowl debacle. The offense was a mess much of the year. Clemson was just the rancid icing on the cake.

I don't think he gives two shits about what Ohio State fans think. I, however, do think he's become aware that Texas fans are less than thrilled about this, and that's the fire he's trying to put out. Hell, we're happy.

If you remember I posted something in the coaching changes thread about the rumors down here well before Christmas (dec 14th to be precise)
Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

I think it is funny, out of one side of his bum he posts Stats attributed to Beck and then out of the other side of his bum he tries to diminish Becks role in the offense lol. Odd to anyone else?

He also tweeted something about Cardale and JT giving Beck "two thumbs up" because from the way I read Cardales tweets, it doesn't seem like he is much of a Beck fan.

I actually logged back into the shag, so I could get you back in the green. They have to be pissed about that.

To build on this and get all Machiavellian...maybe Urban had a pretty good idea of how poorly things were going to go against Clemson and allowed the Wilson stuff to leak to plant the bug in what was sure to be a pretty surly fanbase. I can't put my finger on it, but something seemed "off" about Urban leading up to that game. Like he had an idea that his offense was totally fucked and was just trying to put on a good face.

So the eldest kid in the house is a frosh in HS. When he was thinking of going to the homecoming dance one of his potential 'asks' was a girl who is one of his friends. They're really close, but at first she was a friend of a friend... his very first and longest term friend... they learned to walk together... families are very tight... the friend just happens to be a girl and his primary connection to his 'ask.'

So... he pings this first and longest friend and another young lady who makes up this gang of three young ladies for their thoughts on if they thought that his 'ask' might be interested in going to the dance with him.

Turns out, and I saw the text messages so I know it happened, both of them said, "No, I think that she just wants to be friends..."

He doesn't ask 'Ask'.

The 'Ask' was over at our house for New Years with her family and the family of the first and longest term friend. Ask's mom says to me, "So, the night of homecoming I drove the girls downtown. The girls told 'Ask' that he was interested in taking her to homecoming, but they told him that she'd not be interested... I looked in the mirror and saw Ask look down at the floor and say, 'I totally would have gone'."

Net net, two people that my son loves and trusts sold his ass down the river for their own best interests (they had the trip downtown planned for the three of them for a while).

Lesson learned... you can love and trust a lot of people, but if their interest is more important to them than your interest is to them, you may be played like a fiddle.

Tom, you may have just been played.

For all of the credit he was getting as being this great recruiter in Texas, I have noticed that the guys we got from TX, Beck was not the recruiter.

Browning - said he committed because of the Home visit by Urban, Fick, and Schiano
Dobbins - said he committed after talking to Alford and Urban
Okudah - no mention of Beck either

Wilson appears to have been recruited most by Urban and Johnson.

So evidently Beck must not have been Captain Texas anyway.
