On a serious note. Who would you want to work for in the future. A egomaniac who craps you out on the sidelines and announces your mutual agreement to screw off without you present, or the man who allows a guy to sort himself out, maybe lets the cat out of the bag with the comment about a winning passing game next year, and let's the guy quietly announce his new job? I just think that Urban Meyer approached this problem in the most mature way. The Texas pipeline is smaller, maybe gone, but there is now hope for a great offense next year.

Which is why I could never get paid millions of dollars to coach football. I would have skinned him alive after that Clemson game Michigan State game.

Yep. It was funny reading Buckeye boards the last two days with countless people crying "WHY ISN'T HE FIRD YET?!?!?" Frankly, I'm a little surprised it's all going down this quickly. Tells be Urban recognized this problem weeks ago and began laying the groundwork.

I mentioned earlier how interesting it was how he wasn't in front of a mic very often over the past two years. Then all of a sudden after the Fiesta he's giving an interview... It was almost like, "ya made your bed... go sleep in it" kind of thing.

Beck was always the whipping boy for a couple of reasons.

- He was the guy hired when Herman left, so naturally people correlate the two
- Ed Warriner built up a lot of good will from the job he did coaching the OL. He was phenomenal in that position
- Beck came with a soiled reputation from his time at Nebraska and the work he did with Martinez and Armstrong.

So, the deck was stacked against him. Since being on staff, however, the following has occurred.

- the 2015 offense fell well short of expectations despite having (arguably) the most available talent in school history.
- He was stripped of play-calling duties after failing to utilize the best RB tOSU has had in a generation against Sparty.
- QB play has fallen off a cliff since a VERY strong 2014 season, and bottomed out over the last month of 2016. This can be directly attributed to him as he was the "QB Coach."
- The 2015 and 2016 offenses never developed an identity. Play-calling and gameplanning had no cohesiveness.

Now, much of the above falls directly at Beck's feet, the QB play in particular. However, I think the fault might not be distributed evenly enough between Beck and Warriner. Warriner was the play-caller this year, and it's hard to call it even "adequate" most games. The offense gets an automatic upgrade with him moving on. It's impossible to argue that. But Warriner shoulders just as much blame, IMO. They both have their plusses...Beck as a recruiter, Warriner for his previous work on the OL. In retrospect, Warriner was clearly over promoted, and Beck never should have been hired.

Fortunately, we have a HC that isn't going to let a foul situation linger. He appears to be acting swiftly and decisively.

My theory is that Beck/Warinner were just really, really bad at making in-game adjustments. When a defense threw something unexpected at them they panicked and absolutely fell apart.

I have a pretty solid guess on two teams that didn't throw something unexpected at us--- Oklahoma and Nebraska. They should probably find new D coordinators.

I bet my testicles this was happening. The guy was a total failure.

I will be willing to make another bet of one left testi, we will also get more Texas kids to play at OSU. I'm not sold that we only got then because of beck.
