Tom "Ladies Frames" Crean (HC Georgia Bulldogs)

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I present The Biggest Douche in the Universe, Tom Crean!!!!

Crean had a testy exchange with Big Ten call moderator and assistant director of communications Dan Mihalik on the subject during this morning's conference call:

Crean: "Dan, I have a question for you. Can you give me the criteria, so I can understand this once and for all, what the criteria is for the player of the week, what you're judging that on"
Mihalik: "I can give that to you off line."
Crean: "Just give me this: Where does winning fit into it"
Mihalik: "It's part of the criteria."
TC: "Just part of the criteria? OK, that helps me. Thanks."
Crean then brought it up again at the end of the call.
"Dan, when you send that to me, please put where winning is ranked when you guys do that, with your criteria, and I?ll look forward to reading that. OK, thanks. Bye."

Shortly thereafter, Crean tweeted about the situation: "From the BT teleconfrence, let me be clear. I was not questioning a player. I was questioning the criteria for choosing an award."

By his reasoning, a player on a losing team would never win the award. Nevermind that the hypothetical kid went averaged 35 points, 15 rebounds, 3 block shots and 3 assists for the week. It is a individual award, not a team award, you idiot.

It seems like a rather petty thing to bring up on the conference call. That said, I can't argue with the substance of what he was saying--no PG should be awarded player of the week honors if his team was utterly thrashed in one of its games that week and beat a PSU team with exactly zero conference wins (and 13 conference losses) in the other.

A major college coach complaining about an in-season weekly "award"? Sounds like somebody's got his priorities straight. :roll1:

His priorities may be straight, but his panties certainly aren't. What an asshole.
